"I had the pleasure of working with Tobi Wright on a photoshoot in NY this Spring. She handled all of the styling for a home shoot with a major celebrity. Her eye for design and form is impeccable. She understood the individual style preferences of the celebrity client and brought that sensibility to life for the camera. She was energetic, attentive, and a great addition to the crew under pressure to get the shot within the allotted time frame. I highly recommend her!"

"Anthony of Woodstone did a wonderful job in remodeling our kitchen, dining room and bathroom. He also installed beautiful oak floors in our two bedrooms and sanded and finished the oak floors in the rest of the condo. Anthony is not only a superior contractor, he also has a great design eye. He saved us from making errors in design with his excellent advice on how to bring the kitchen and dining room together. It was not only beautiful but also made the space feel larger and airier than it was originally. He also chose a granite counter for the bathroom that perfectly matched the wall and floor tiles, thus rescuing us from our original unfortunate choice. After removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, Anthony wove in floor tile that matches seamlessly with the existing floor tile. We would not hesitate to hire Anthony again. We have enthusiastically recommended Anthony to our friends."

Home staging is the process of preparing your property by creating an ambiance that speaks to the senses of today's buyers. Many buyers are unable to envision how to use a space without seeing it laid out in front of them. When HOUSE OF AMBIANCE stages a listing, we implement a Design Psychology that considers tones, textures and styles enriched with elements to soothe the emotions of today's buyer. This in turn stimulates the buyer's visual perception, that then evokes a feeling and a need to want to live in that space. When the buyer walks away, they leave the showing with an emotional attachment to a lifestyle.\n\nA realtor has a window of 30 minutes or less for that listing to impress the buyer. In that short showing the buyer quickly downloads a visual perception into their senses that stays with them after they leave the showing. The homes that "feel" good buries themselves into the good memory of the buyer. \n\n

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.

  • How long will the project take to complete?

  • What type of services do you offer?

  • Can you provide a project estimate?

  • Do you work with subcontractors?

  • Are you licensed or certified in this state?

  • Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?

  • May I contact your customer references?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • How do you handle payment?

Yes, most designers tailor plans to fit your budget. Discuss financial constraints during initial consultations.

The cost to have your house decorated for Christmas depends on the extent of your holiday vision. Interior decorators charge between $50 and $150 per hour on average, so if your decorations are minimal, you could pay as little as $200 for a couple of hours of decorating. Interior decorators might also bill $5 to $12 per square foot, or a flat rate of $500 to $1,300 per room. You can also pay to have your Christmas tree professionally decorated for an average of $200 to $600. Contact a local interior decorator for a specific quote.

You can hire a few different experts to redesign a kitchen. The best option depends on your goals, budget, and timeline. For small updates, we recommend hiring a contractor who specializes in kitchen renovation. For extensive updates, a general contractor might be your best bet since they’ll have experience with all aspects of the remodel. If you’re looking for more ideas in the planning stage, you can hire an interior designer or a kitchen remodeling company. Both options will help you thoroughly envision your new kitchen before the remodel begins.

A certified kitchen designer (or CKD) is a certification given by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. These designers have completed the necessary hours of training and education to specialize in kitchens, and therefore understand the wide variety of project needs (like plumbing, electrical, appliances, and more). Most pros will make their certifications known on their website, but you can also ask during your search for a local kitchen designer.
