"I can't say enough positive things about this group. They were punctual, professional, and showed great attention to detail. And they offered very competitive pricing to boot! They worked all day on my yard, eliminating and removing 2 large oak trees, an extremely tall hickory tree, 9 pine trees, and a "widow-maker" deciduous tree in 100 degree heat. My kids and I tried to bring them food, drinks, chairs, etc... , but we had to be EXTREMELY forceful for them to accept our offering. I'm very tight-fisted with money, but I opted to tip over $400 because of my appreciation and respect for the work they performed."

"Had not heard of H&G until Home Advisor and have used Home Advisor for other things with not great result however this company exceeded expectations. Had 2 huge Oaks and a couple of small trees in my fenced in backyard to take down. Not much room to navigate due to other preserved landscape as well as a deck and patio. This is family operation. Umberto gave me the best estimate out of 4 other tree companies. His crew was unbelievable and all helped with the job. Many companies have left a tremendous mess in addition to damaging the rest of the property but not them. They grinded one stump, cut firewood for me and even cut some logs for my brother in law. I would absolutely recommend them and would use them again."

"My project was a tall tree which was leaning precariously, and capable of doing extensive damage to my, and my neighbors property. The tree was removed without causing any property damage. In addition, several large branches over the roofs of my, and my neighbors house were safely removed. The men doing this work were professional, experienced, worked safely, and performed a cleanup upon completion that belied the fact that a major job had just been done. I was contacted quickly by the Manager, the crew arrived when promised, the price was competitive, and the job was done to my complete satisfaction. I would highly recommend America Tree Service for your project."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

DIY is risky and not recommended for large trees; professional services ensure safe removal and proper disposal.

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.
