"I called Precision to assist with a furnace issue at my grandmother's house. In short, Mike was responsive, professional and very transparent throughout the process of replacing an older furnace. He met the need with expertise, and completed the job in a shorter amount of time than expected and was truly a pleasure to work with. Call Mike before you make the mistake of dealing with less experienced techs from larger companies who will just throw parts at your equipment and cross their fingers. Happy to have found a trustworthy company to work with!!"

"T-Mark came to work on a very old boiler that was not heating properly. The technician Scott arrived within the scheduled time window. He was very knowledgeable about boilers and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. No parts or replacement was necessary. He also gave me some helpful tips on the system we have. All in all, a great experience."

"The plumber removed the old sump pump, and cleaned up the entire hole, which had debris & dirt. He installed the new one with a new pipe. Everything is functioning well."

Small jobs welcome

"In January 2020, one of the pipes going to our boiler leaked, and because our old boiler's auto refill and low water cutoff failed, the boiler was dry-firing. The fire dept. had to come and shut off power to the boiler at 1 am. I called Cellino, and Luke (the president) called me back at 4 am. Tom M. was here in the morning and told me we needed a new boiler. The next day, the boiler came in, and a team including Chris, Frank, and Tyler spent all day (12 hours) installing it. We are now safe and warm. I can't recommend Cellino highly enough for the customer service and quality workmanship."

Emerald Heating & Cooling was founded in 2000 by Marty and Carrie Sheehan, who combine their strengths to offer great HVAC service to the local area.\n\nThe business began after founder Marty Sheehan worked for an HVAC company and trained under a wise technician who told him “be like the duck on the water.” By this, he meant that ducks always appear graceful and in control above the water, while below the surface they are trying hard to stay afloat. It’s a metaphor for working hard while doing a beautiful job, hustling without mistakes, and doing great work without the fuss.\n\nMarty has taken this mindset and applied it to every aspect of our business, from the logo to the mission. This is how we approach every job we do.

"24 hour service with NO up charge. Requested a repair, no heat. Existing Lennox furnace was 30 years old. Our first contact with Technician Nick was an indication of the professionalism and expertise of the company. Nick showed up sharing with us, great coffee from Lewiston. He found the furnace blower seized up but also the beginning of two cracks in the heat exchanger (CO hazard). Nick showed me the cracks with a camera. The furnace break down occurred the day we were supposed to leave for vacation. Belknap accommodated us with same day service and replacement with a new furnace. Everything was explained. People were in and out all day. Scott measured. Chris issued a proposal. Dave and Corey installed. A new Ruud furnace replaced the Lennox. The installers replaced all the exhaust pipes including that for the HW heater, disassembled the unused wood burning furnace connections, did electronic hookups to the circuit breaker panel, installed a hard wire combination smoke /CO detector and a new digital thermostat. All old equipment was removed and the work area cleaned up. The new setup looks much better, smaller and shiny. All conscientious and thorough guys. We chose not to replace the air conditioner (suggested due to the old style metal drip basin) since it still works. This would have cost more than the furnace. We felt the furnace install price was very fair considering the amount of work completed and the heat emergency. Give this company a call when you need heat!"

"The price for the units and service was extremely fair and the service was excellent. The team showed up on time and worked incredibly hard during a 90 degree day and completed the install quickly and professionally. I was so happy with the work and the customer service."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.

Yes, you can build a sunroom addition to your home despite living in a cold climate. Make sure to use high-quality insulation and windows and to supplement with sufficient heating from your HVAC system. The windows in the sunroom allow enough natural light into the room to help heat it most times without having to use the furnace. Even a small electric fireplace can heat the sunroom well enough.

If you want to have hot water in your home and part of your plumbing system, you'll need a hot water heater. An alternative may be to heat water as you use it, such as by boiling what you need on the stove. But that's much less efficient and takes considerably longer than hooking up a water heater. Another option is to rely on appliances, such as a dishwasher or washing machine, that heat the water themselves.

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.
