We had our front steps rebuilt from brick to stone and new railings were installed. A few adjustments were needed but the response was quick and things were addressed adequately. American Home Remodeling IncI’m so happy with the job American Home Remodeling did! We had our steps/porch, walkway, and garage floor done. The workers were always professional and courteous. Plus they did an amazing job! Unfortunately, an hour after they fully completed the job, my dog made paw imprints on the new garage floor before the concrete had dried. MC Home Improvements and ConstructionMC Home did an incredible job customizing our new home. We found them August 2020, moved into the house October 2020 and began work in November. The crew was a delight to have at the house everyday while we were home working, of course noisy with the demo but we made it work! Availability for materials/doors/windows delayed the project at times which was out of their control. Word of advice during home remodel during Covid, don't delay decision making! Eric did a great job explaining things that we didn't know or other ways to think of how to build/style. The sunroom is hands down our favorite room in the house. The fireplace needed a makeover - MC Home gave some great suggestions on trim/moulding styles and it was done in a week. Overall, I appreciated the time Eric and the team took to make sure we understood the process and keeping us in the loop as it progressed each week. Project costs were reasonable and in line with industry standard. We'll definitely recommend them to friends/family and use MC Home in the future!- Candace K.

GENERAL BRICK DESIGNSAnother job was done with excellence by Ed Costanzo and his crew from General Brick Designs. We were so happy with the wall that Ed built for us that we had him replace our side steps that were falling apart. While at it he found some old termite damage and took care of it without a hitch. You don't find many men like this in today's world. It was a pleasure having Ed and his crew around. They were prompt, neat, and masters at their craft. I'm having him back again in a few months to do a driveway when some front-of-house modifications are complete. You won't be disappointed with General Brick Designs.- Mike D.

GENERAL BRICK DESIGNSWe were in need of a new retaining wall that was leaning over and some chimney repair. My wife found General Brick Designs here on Angies List. More than that she found Ed Costanza a master in his field. He came by and took a look at our job and gave us a full explanation of what was going on. There was never any pressure that we had to do the job immediately. Ed even offered to come by and check it for us once in a while when he was in the area. I liked Ed from the start. He was friendly, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and really just an all around great guy to meet. Ed was on the job overseeing the project the whole time and his crew worked like a well oiled machine under his direction. Ed and his team were really a pleasure to have around. I was in awe of how much work they accomplished and how neat they left everything nightly and at the end of the project. During the project we found a real foundation problem and Ed made the repairs for us immediately no hassles, no fuss a real pro and a good man. On Angies list they ask a question would you hire again? Not only would I... I already told Ed I'm hiring him to do my driveway because of him. Hampton Bay Construction - Babylon Bay ConstructionWe have nothing but praises for the work AJ and his crew performed on our house and we plan on working with them on future projects. They performed a gut renovation of our main family bathroom, a complete basement renovation, and updated our living room built-ins and ceiling. The outcome of each project exceeded our expectations. Working with the AJ was a great experience. He is extremely down to earth and personable. We were impressed with the transparency on each of his estimates, all of which included itemized costs. This transparency was something we weren't accustomed to in other bids that we had received, which typically had a magic number at the end, and left you wondering what the heck costs that much? With AJ, we saw how it came together, and that was very important to us. The work the crew performed was very high end. The new family bathroom came out amazing. Truly high end, custom woodwork throughout, if you showed me a picture of this bathroom a year ago I would not have believed it would be in my house. Our basement, which prior to the renovation was an absolute dump where people expressed fear in visiting, turned into our favorite room in the house. They built a laundry room, full bathroom and a family room. All the rooms received custom built-ins, which we designed together along the way. It isn't fair to call it a basement any longer, it has become the addition on the lower level. Reflecting back over these projects, I think what left the most favorable sentiment was how AJ treated each project like they were taking place in his own house. We knew our projects were smaller in scale then what Hampton Bays typically worked on, but it didn't feel that way to us. To us, these projects were tremendous, and AJ treated them as such. AJ demonstrated to us throughout that he wanted us to be 100% satisfied, and he worked very hard to make that happen. Hampton Bay has our endorsement 100%!!- Kimberly B.

Mik came & made suggestions. He gave an estimate on Monday. the job started on Saturday(my request). Border wall taken down & rebuilt in one day! Long Hill Masonry renovated our front and rear stoops, which after 65 years were slowly falling apart. My husband and I are Thrilled with how they turned out. Within 2 days of our call, Joe Tavella (Owner) came to our home to give us an estimate. We explained what our ideas were and Joe even added further suggestions to improving the design. Joe, through his expertise and knowledge was able to do what 3 other contractors told us they couldn't do. After knowing this and with a fair quote, we asked Joe when can he start the job. The job was then completed in a very timely manner (in 1 day). Joe and his team were neat reliable, efficient, meticulous and took real pride to producing top quality work. So if you read the reviews by many others here you will get an idea of just how good Edward Costanza and his crew are. He takes pride in his work and the results speak for themselves. This was a huge job and he not only completed it in 6 long days but also did a whole variety of things as extras for no additional charge. Let me begin explaining what he did. He had to tear down most of the pre-existing wall which was hand built by the original builder/owner of this house in the 1960's. This wall had gradually deteriorated over 60 years and was failing in many areas. It turned out that it was built to very high standards originally (PSI of over 5000!) which meant Ed had to cut it down with a diamond tipped rotary saw. That took lots of extra work. He removed all that material. He then was nice enough to inspect the foundation of my house since he has that equipment and was happy to inform me that the house was extremely well built. Ed used only the highest grade material and since I have a bit of OCD when it comes to repairs he spent hours with me going over everything that was being done and why. He is the most pleasant and honest fellow you will ever meet. There were few things that I asked to change and he quickly did exactly what I suggested including curving the wall at the beginning to feed it into the land nicely. I also asked him to install a landing where the steps were being built. Since I had extra bluestone slabs from a previous job he simply told some of his crew (Wilson and Darwin) to install these bluestone pieces instead of just pouring concrete. That process took an extra 3 hours and they made it look beautiful. Ed was here every single day watching the work being done and sometimes doing it himself. He also helped me restore a crack in another wall in the backyard. He installed anchor ties along the length of the wall to complete the structure and prevent it from ever breaking down. His mortar mix was specially prepared each day and the crew worked together with each mason doing their specific task for the day. It was amazing to see how well they worked together. When the wall was finally completed they cleaned up the entire yard and removed all the rocks, cement and debris that occurs when you do this kind of work. Just understand that you are getting an expert in the field of masonry and he will do everything to make sure you are satisfied with the job. He will be returning in a few weeks to waterproof the rear of the wall (that is always very important) and he uses Thoroseal (now called Master Seal) which I have used in the past for other work around the house and know how good that material is for waterproofing. So I know this is a long review but I will simply say that Edward Costanza is the best in the business and you will certainly be assured of getting a job well done.

Could have been better. I guess it all comes down to 'you get what you pay for'. Contracted Forte to install pavers over existing patio, add two corner seat/benches, a step-down & additional new patio. Plus new front walk-way & paver borders along drive-way. The patios & walk-way came out great, but the seat/bench area was disappointing. I thought it was going to be constructed of all pavers, but due to budget he suggested it be built w/cylinder blocks & covered. (I thought w/the pavers) but they used a cement compound & gave it a "stucco" look & then painted it (I Hated that). I guess I should have been more explicit what I wanted, but again budget was main concern. My biggest issue was the cylinder block/stucco sides of bench kept leaching a white residue. I called them back about this. They did come & re-stuccco & paint, but it happened again. Another call & another return/repair, but when it happened on 3rd time, I just figured no matter how many times they come & re-stucco/repaint, this will keep happening. I was told by another masonry , that this is an inherent problem the cylinder blocks. The entire bench would have to re moved & re-done w/ all pavers. We figured he's want to charge us for the new benches, so we're just living w/it. Sad :(
