"Vinny was amazing. Very personable and engaging in conversation. No BS, and kept his word. Even showed up earlier than planned, of course giving me a call to make sure it was okay to come. He recommended affordable options to take care of my fireplace needs. He went above and beyond to deliver excellent service. I would recommend him to anyone in need."

"They were friendly, helpful, clean, did a great job. They were respectful of the house and yard and when they left except for a clean working chimney - you would never have known they were there. Highly recommend. Will use again for burner chimney."

"I think they need to plan better for their workmen to get to site. It might be a one off but we had a van come from Bethpage out to Yonkers, when there is more than one office in the NY area...Friendly and professional and thorough. We ended up paying more than we thought but the chimney hadn't been looked at in quite a while by the previous owners, and there was obvious physical deterioration. They sorted everything including exterior brickwork and left the place tidy. I was pleased with the result."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

If there’s a draft within your fireplace, it can lead to a weakening of its flame. And when the fire burns the wood, it won’t burn effectively, resulting in a build up of soot and smoke. If you notice this happening, you’ll want to inspect the glass to see where the draft is getting in. You can also hire a fireplace repair pro to do the work for you.

Gas fireplace inserts are considered the most efficient because they convert more of the fuel source—gas—into heat. They offer excellent heat output per the amount of fuel they use. While electric fireplace inserts are praised for their efficiency, keep in mind that they don’t offer as strong a heat output but may still be a great choice if you want an efficient option.

Even though ventless fireplaces are safe to use overall, you shouldn’t let them run for more than a few hours per day. It’s also important to make sure the room with the fireplace is well-ventilated. If not, the water vapor from the fire could increase the humidity levels in your home, potentially resulting in mold growth.

They provide an affordable, easy-to-install alternative to masonry fireplaces with efficient heating options.

While hardwoods are the best woods to burn, a few types of woods should be avoided when burning. Wood that has not had time to season, or “green wood,” should be avoided. The extra water in the wood makes it smoke horribly, which is not a quality you want. Additionally, it’s best to avoid any wood that is manufactured or has been treated, including coated or sealed wood, painted wood, or pressure-treated wood. These woods have chemicals that will be released into your air when burned and can cause health problems.
