"After I contacted S&R, "Kevin" came out promptly, and on time!, to look at my pool.  He is very nice, and knowledgeable, and proceeded to explain why I didn't need to resurface the entire pool.  I was considering that and he didn't over sell it.  I thought he was very objective and I appreciated that.  He did recommend the granite top, which I would have never dreamed up, and the idea appealed to me.  He gave me a decent price and I signed up.  Next was to pick out tile and granite.  S&R uses Bridgewater Marble and Granite.  I found tiles right away that I liked on their website.  They mailed samples of three different tiles to me, free of charge.
However, I decided to go with a bluestone for the top instead of granite.  Kevin said no problem.   But it turns out there was a problem.  We had to cancel the installation three times because the bluestone was not ready.  Finally, after a month of waiting, Kevin informed me the cutter could not shape the bluestone in the curved shape we needed.  He kept breaking the bluestone.  Not S&R's fault - they're not the stone company!  But it did cause delays.  So I had to choose a granite and I did.  But of course, I chose a premium granite and it cost an extra $350 from the original price. OK.  It really was the perfect stone.
One thing about doing this work is you have to drain the pool.  I really didn't want to drain the pool during the summer.  I was asking why I had to drain the entire pool when only one portion was being worked on.  Kevin kept telling me it was the best way but he really couldn't explain it.  Well, I tell you.  Kevin was right!  The demolition of the old tile and the cement needed to repair the wall made an incredible mess.  If there was any water, any water at all in that pool, it could never have been cleaned up.
But the delays and cancelled installation dates made for anxiety.  My wife was actually ok with not draining the pool during the summer!  You can't just drain a pool and leave it drained, water pressure in the ground would pop that pool right up out of the ground.  It had to be drained 'just in time'.  Kevin was very good at calling me to let me know to NOT drain the pool (which was not what I wanted to hear, actually).  And when everything was finally ready, Kevin kept me informed.   I would say it was very good communication with Kevin.
So the day finally came, and I drained the pool the night before.  The crew came out, right on time.  They were very nice.  They got right to work.  And the work was good.  It took just one day.  They cleaned up all the mess and acid washed the pool.  Everything was left neat and clean.  The spa looks fabulous!  I am very pleased with the result.  It took two days to fill the pool from the garden hose.  And that will cost me another $1,500 from the town for the water bill.  But everything was just fine and just in time for my annual fall swim in the pool for my birthday!
So I really ought to take points off my review for the delays but really, it wasn't S&R's fault.  They communicated very well, I knew what was happening and why.  So I can't really find exactly how to take away points.  Stuff happens.

"Dave arrived at the property on time and from the start I appreciated his professionalism.  He was very knowledgeable about the home's construction and immediately noticed safety hazards that I had overlooked upon my own, limited, cursory inspection.  None of the items he pointed out were deal-breakers, but before we went into final contract I was able to get the Sellers to repair these deficiencies (loose front pavers and handrails, leaking basement sink, uneven pavers around the pool, etc.).  He indicated which parts of the outdoor backyard wooden deck were subject to wood-rot and he also pointed out parts of the roof that might need a professional roofer to later address.  He pointed out that the water heater was ending it's useful life (over ten years old) and his concerns about the electric panel box (wattage input and wiring) were later addressed by the Seller to my satisfaction.  The professionals he brought in for the septic tank inspection utilized fiber optics, permitting a full examination of the septic tank, verifying that a new septic system had indeed been installed, correctly, as the Seller had asserted.  From the darkest corner of the basement to the dimly lighted attic, Dave gave valuable insights as to the construction-quality of the house.  I was very satisfied with his thorough report and the reports of the other inspectors.  Without reservation, I recommend Dave Polo & Associates very much!"

Sauna Installation questions, answered by experts

No, you should only choose high-quality wood to build your sauna. Not all types of woods can withstand the pressure from heat or moisture. Only use softwoods, such as cedar and aspen, that are known for absorbing heat and resisting water.

It will take several hours or more to build a sauna. A prefab kit will take anywhere from three to 20 hours to install, depending on complexity and your skill level. If you’re doing a custom build, it can take more than 50 hours—especially if you need to add ventilation, ductwork, and other renovations.

Considering the cost of tools, parts, and hiring assisted labor, building your own sauna can cost almost as much as purchasing one. It is less expensive to buy sauna kits, since they are premade and easier to set up. Still, you may need to hire a professional to assist in electric or plumbing installation.

Both saunas and steam rooms offer some health benefits as well as a good return on investment. While there’s more research on saunas than steam rooms and fewer reported risks with steam rooms, the latter tend to be better for reducing stress. Which one is better depends on the benefits you’re looking for, your budget, and if you have space to build a sauna.

The primary difference between a steam shower and a sauna is the type of heat they produce. A sauna generates dry heat using electricity, while a steam shower creates wet heat from steam, resulting in nearly 100% humidity. A steam shower typically replaces an existing shower, has an opening at the top, and operates at a lower temperature (around 90-120°F) than a sauna, though the high humidity can make it feel just as warm. It is advisable to limit steam sessions to 20 minutes. In contrast, a sauna is a fully enclosed space that can be placed anywhere in a house and produces dry heat.
