"I requested quotes from six people five showed up. Bob's fell right in the middle of the group. After talking with Paul (the owner) about their process, time table, giving me certificates of insurance and really asking questions even about his equipment I felt most comfortable going with him. They showed up when they said they would his team worked absolutely great together each knowing exactly what they had to do. This tree extended into two neighbor's yards and they did a bang out job ! Everything was picked up and they were very professional ! I dont say this often but I am extremely pleased with their work and glad I chose them. I absolutely would recommend them."

"Nick was prompt, precise and reliable! He was very conscientious about not disturbing the plantings around the areas where he worked, leveled out the tree grindings and cleaned up any pieces of tree mulch from my porch and stair area. I would HIGHLY recommend him to complete your tree stump removal project!"

"I had several trees that needed trimming. The work was well done at a very reasonable price. The crew cleaned up our yard cleaner than when they started.. One of our branches we had removed overhung our neighborâ s yard. When the work was done, they went next door to make sure our neighbor was satisfied with the job. I would highly recommend Trusted Tree Service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.
