Customers say: Terrific value
12 years of experience

At Mohonk Exteriors we strive for 100% customer service and satisfaction. We love what we do because we are good at what we do. We are locally owned and operated and have been serving New Paltz and its surrounding areas since 2014. Call us today, you won't be disappointed!

"Rob came out, gave us a fair bid, and a crew started the work on time. From what I can tell (without going up on the roof), the quality of the work was good (no leaks yet). However, they did not complete the job before the weather got too cold to continue and they packed up for the winter something last November, 2021. As I write this review, it is September 2022, and I have been waiting 10 months for the roofing job to be completed. For the last three months, Rob has not been returning my calls or texts, so I am stuck with an unfinished job that I will probably have to find someone else to complete."

We are an old fashioned, American family owned and operated company. One of our main specialties is working with seniors and their families because we are there when you need us and truly make you a part of our family. We even have clients out of state that have family members here. We hold strong old fashioned values and fair pricing and we also offer a senior discount. We are closed on Sundays unless it is an emergency as the day is worth more than the dollar. We have many references and are fully insured. Say you saw us on Angies List for five dollars off your first snow removal job or lawn maintenance job with annual contract or %10 off your first job when you say I found you on Angies List. No job is ever too big or too small! From changing a lightbulb to adding an addition or replacing or siding or cleaning out your attic we will be there for all your home needs!

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

There is no formal date for Christmas light removal, but January 2 is a standard day to take them down for many homeowners. However, some homeowners’ associations have strict rules around this topic, mandating that residents remove lights no later than two weeks after Christmas. Check with your local association or community for more information.

It can be frustrating to see one half of your lights working while the other half is dark. Long strands of Christmas lights often contain more than one circuit. If half of your strand won’t light up, there’s likely a burned-out or loose bulb on that circuit in the strand. Check the strand and replace any loose or damaged bulbs.

DIY is possible, but professional installation ensures safety and a polished appearance, especially for large or high displays.

Good news, Christmas lovers: you can keep your lights up all year, provided you choose the type. It's critical that you choose holiday lights made for outdoor use, as these can withstand winter weather conditions. In addition, it's best to use LED lights instead of incandescent ones. LED bulbs can withstand temperature shifts and are energy efficient.

If you are considering leaving your holiday lights up year-round, ask your lighting installer about permanent installation. This project costs around $3,500 but gives you about six to 10 years of LED lights and adds a pleasing aesthetic to your home.

It’s not a good idea to mix LED and incandescent Christmas lights if you can avoid it. LEDs and incandescents can have significantly different electrical current needs. This difference can lead to a higher risk of problems and failure for both light strands. When possible, switch all your lights over to one kind or the other for the best results. Do not connect the different types of light strings to each other, and avoid linking them to the same circuit.
