"Wonderful! Addison arrived exactly on time and went right to work, fixing one door after another. He knew exactly what to do and explained why each door wasn't closing properly. He is a true professional in his work, highly skilled, very neat, and personable. I will definitely be recommending him to neighbors and friends!"

"We interviewed 3 companies before Brothers. All of whom were less than satisfactory. They did not ask us questions, did not bring samples, gave complicated answers to our questions and did not confirm that we understood. There were at least 2 or more qualities that put us off. The first unique quality about Brothers is that the salesperson took off his shoes. I know it is trivial but is was at least symbolic. While he was relatively inexperienced, it reassured us that he was able to call someone at the company for answers. It was also reassuring that almost all of the managers/owners are related. We figured that is a family can be that unified to grow a business, they must be doing something right. Oh, he brought samples. Their installation team was personable and diligent. The even had 50's/60's music playing. Tarps went down for every window they worked, they vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned up outside when done. We could not afford to replace the sliding glass doors but we will be using the Brothers team when we are ready to do so. We would recommend them highly as a quality company."

Small jobs welcome

"Iâ d like to thank Ceaser Flores for the great job he did repairing our outside access door closure and locking system. Ceaser was relentless chasing down the replacement parts necessary for our issue. There was no product identification on our old door lock and it was necessary to find a duplicate so that we wouldnâ t have to repaint or refinish another type of installation. Very punctual and very professional, Ceaser got the job done! Excellent work and very much appreciated!"

"Paul and his crew from Black Rock Handyman are simply fabulous! We are so happy we discovered them on the threebestrated website. We had them remodel bathroom, repair and paint exterior of house, some painting interior, fix water damage on living room ceiling, electrical work, and a few smaller jobs like installing lights, doors, and a mailbox. First off, he is incredibly kind, easy to talk to, and very creative and skilled. Whenever they encountered an issue with our home, we talked it through and they always had great suggestions that fixed any problem our house was experiencing. He is a problem solver and does beautiful work. He has a great relationship with his crew and it was fun to witness their magic. Hire this company, you will not be disappointed! Reno/Sparks/Carson/Lake Tahoe area is lucky to have this caliber of talent. We will be hiring them in the spring for deck/fence repair and shed install. I have to point out this story...Paul had to go under our house for one issue and discovered water damage unrelated. Instead of ignoring that, he promptly informed us that he wanted to figure out what was causing this problem. All current repairs were put on hold, he discovered the issue and explained how he could fix in an inexpensive way, knowing it might delay him by a few days, saving us thousands of dollars down the road. We can't thank him and his crew enough. AMAZING!!!"

"Very pleased with the quality of the work. We ended up replacing most of our existing fence and the overall job turned out very nice. They were more reasonable than the other fencing contractors that we received bids from. Will hire again for other projects at our house."

Window Door Contractors FAQs, answered by experts

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.

On average, it cost $2,900 to rescreen a patio, porch, or sunroom, with homeowners paying anywhere from $800 to $5,200. The cost to rescreen a porch, patio, or sunroom enclosure depends on the size of the enclosure, the extent of the damage, and the materials used to replace existing screens.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

Window seals don’t last forever, so they’ll inevitably fail for one reason or another. One of the most common reasons is the expansion and contraction of the glass. When the glass gets warm from sunlight, it expands and adds pressure to the seal; at night, as the glass cools, it contracts. This process, day in and day out, can eventually cause the seal to fail. Other common sources of failure include the house settling over time, chemicals that damage the seal when repainting windows, and incorrect window installation.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.
