"Frank helped our company with a concrete slab for a security cage. It was a team effort with another company. Frank knew exactly what was needed and the project was complete sooner than was expected, and everything is perfect. I will definitely tell people about The Biggest Little Outdoor Design and Frank!"

"In 2018 I hired this company to add on a paver patio and walkway to existing cement. What a GREAT job they did! The owner, Jose , is professional, courteous and listened to what I wanted and made some good suggestions. The crew that did the work showed up on time each day, worked hard and were also very nice and friendly. Recently, I needed a drip line repair that was under a corner of the pavers. A really small but important job. At a very busy time of year, Jose had one of his guys out here within 5 days and it was fixed and pavers replaced expertly. Next year I intend to add another small paver patio and will once again call on Affordable Pavers to do the job!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Mr Perez was great to work with. He showed me pictures of similar projects he had already completed to give me a better idea of what he would build which was great. Very well thought out project and good attention to detail. Crew showed up early in the mornings, and the whole 75ft retaining wall, fence, and gate was completed in 3 days! Very pleased with the quality"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, brick walls often add value to a home. For starters, many people love the look of brick walls, so they can enhance your home's aesthetic appeal and add warmth to your property, especially when it aligns with the rest of your neighborhood's look. They also provide privacy and security, which can further increase the resale value of your home.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

According to the Earthquake Country Alliance—a public and private alliance in California that works to improve earthquake and tsunami readiness—reports that unreinforced masonry, such as stone, bricks, and hollow clay tiles, is more susceptible to earthquake damage. The mortar between bricks isn’t as stable as other building materials and methods.

Cobblestone can be made from many different types of stones but the most common ones, by far, are granite, basalt, limestone, and sandstone.  If you are laying a brick paver patio or other such project, the medium is different. It’s rare, but cobblestone can also be made from marble, slate, jasper, and other types of rock. Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

You will repoint over a fraction of the old mortar, but you should scrape away 1/2 to 1 inch of mortar from the joints before repointing. Otherwise, the repointing is only masking the weakened mortar instead of actually replacing it, which could put your chimney at risk of bigger, more expensive damages later on.
