"Frank helped our company with a concrete slab for a security cage. It was a team effort with another company. "In 2018 I hired this company to add on a paver patio and walkway to existing cement. What a GREAT job they did! The owner, Jose , is professional, courteous and listened to what I wanted and made some good suggestions. The crew that did the work showed up on time each day, worked hard and were also very nice and friendly. Recently, I needed a drip line repair that was under a corner of the pavers. A really small but important job. At a very busy time of year, Jose had one of his guys out here within 5 days and it was fixed and pavers replaced expertly. Next year I intend to add another small paver patio and will once again call on Affordable Pavers to do the job!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

Clean regularly, check for cracks, and inspect the chimney annually for safety.

Yes, you can use a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach and a gallon of warm water to clean stubborn stains from brick. Do not use bleach without diluting it in water. Undiluted bleach may cause discoloration. You can use either Oxygen bleach such as OxiClean or chlorine bleach. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling bleach.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.
