"Jimmy couldn't have been nicer! He was delayed because a previous job site had his extension latter and they opened late. He called twice to update me. Upon arrival, Jimmy made precautions to protect my wood flooring with brown paper and tape. He was VERY organized. While the "mud" dried for the wall, Jimmy went to the crown molding. He came to me and let me know that everything will take about 90 minutes to dry. He was off to get the paint. 90 minutes later, Jimmy appeared at my door with paint in hand! He was done in about 45 minutes to an hour. BRAVO!! I asked if he would be able to put in a few ceiling fans, a light fixture and a new French door to replace the slider...this guy can do it all!!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

Property lines, building locations, and potential encroachments are mapped.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

Surveys completed by licensed surveyors can be recorded with a local surveying records office, and in most cases, they will be. Filing survey reports categorize them as legal documents, and they can be used whenever legal documentation of your property’s boundaries is needed. While you’re not required to file survey documents, it’s a good idea to do so.
