"Eric with Vargas Landscaping started by cutting down and removing several trees which was done in one day. He and the crew did a fantastic job. They showed up on time and completed the job that we were promised. Two days later he came back and removed all of the outdated landscaping and irrigation system. He replaced all the plants and rock landscaping in three days. He installed lighting for our new path along with new pavers. He is honest and did what he promised. We would highly recommend."

"Excellent service. Larry arrived within an hour of my project request and was able to start work same day. It was a small project and he was even able to look at our waterlines for our plants to make sure they were working properly and show me how to work our timer ( which we had no idea how to operate properly) and let me know what type of watering schedule works best for our plants. He saw that a couple of our droppers were clogged and was able to replace them. All of this at a very reasonable price. He was even willing to work in the rain to finish the job! Very knowledgeable and professional. Will definitely be using them for all our lawn needs!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.

The shepherd’s tree, native to the Kalahari Desert in Africa, holds the record for the deepest known tree roots at over 230 feet deep. Some African communities refer to it as the “Tree of Life” since it provides food, shade, and medicinal properties to the surrounding community.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.
