"Amanda Lopez aka Amanda Franchi and Forrest Barbee are crooks, cheaters, thief and liars. They will con you if you don't watch out. DO NOT DO business with these agents at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Las Vegas. They are dishonest and liars. Here's why. I was a real estate agent in California for about 10 years. For the past 25 years, I have been a website designer. I thought I go back to real estate in Nevada. Passed my test. I joined BHHSNV.com, under broker "Forrest Barbee" and "Amanda Lopez". I got my first listing after a couple of months of joining. It was my aunt's house. So I got on the training wagon. To my surprise, the training was terrible. They did not know what they were doing...and their supervisors are running around like headless chicken on a daily basis. I joined because of what I heard - training is extensive - but it is not. They never know what training they are providing on any day and then they just wing it. Totally unprofessional. The worst training program ever!!! If I had known, I would not have joined BHHSNV. Keep in mind that I have been to real estate training before so I know the difference. The online training materials were not any better, if you can figure it out or even know where to login. There were so many logins (at least 20), it is very confusing which is which and where. The supervisors (Amanda Lopez) are never around and when they are, they never have any time for you. And when you do speak with them, they don't really know the answer, they are just winging it. I can tell because their answers are never the same twice. They treated me as if I did not know anything and they know everything. I finally got an offer on my listing and the seller accepted. Again, I followed Amanda Lopez (my supervisor) instructions on a daily basis during the entire listing process. She was copied on all email correspondences with buyer's agent. So she knew what was going on with my listing on a daily basis. You would think that she would guide me accordingly, but no. By the time escrow closes, my RE license was due to expire in a couple of months and had to be renewed. I was so discouraged from my training and my disappointment in BHHS culture that I decided not to renew my RE license. This was not the cause of why I did not get my commission, the cause or their reason is that I did not follow protocol. Well, whose fault is that, me or my supervisor who is supposed to be teaching me on how to follow protocol. But I was left to blame. Note that I followed every instructions that Amanda Lopez has provided me as we went about my listing. So guess what? Forrest Barbee of BHHSNV did not want to give me my Real Estate commission!!! Not even a finder's fee!!!! Not even for a cup of coffee. I worked on my listing and sold the property. They gave me the excuse that I did not follow protocol and that the documents were not complete. Amanda Lopez did not say a word about my account not being in compliance with protocol. From what I know, they were complete. I followed Amanda Lopez, my training broker, her day to day instructions implicitly. Still, they did not give me 1-cent!!!! They took all of the commission money and kept it. The way they did it is during closing of escrow, they slipped in a few Real Estate documents to take the listing away from me which the seller signed because she did not know what she was signing. Watch out for this. This is how they stole my listing from me. Make sure to join your customer on any escrow signing and make sure that your listing do not get stolen. These people are crooks, liars and a cheat!!! Don't join BHHS company!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They will steal your commission!!!"

Yes, hiring a real estate agent is worth it. Many homeowners make the mistake of trying to sell their homes by themselves, thinking that they’ll save money on the commission, but what they save on the commission, they very often pay for in frustration and concessions on the sale price. Hiring a real estate agent to handle the sale of your home not only makes the process far easier and takes the burden off of you, but most homeowners get more for their homes when going through an agent because of the marketing and salesmanship they bring to the table.
Real estate agents work on commission, so the cost of hiring an agent will depend on the cost of the home you’re buying or selling. The listing contract should include information about the commission for both agents, which is usually 6 percent of the sale price in total or 3 percent per side. With an average national home value of around $440,000, the typical commission per agent is $13,200. However, you won’t pay this total out of pocket. Instead, the commission comes out of the sale price of the property.
Interviewing real estate agents is the best way to find the right person for the job. Consider asking the following questions to find the best agent for you:
How will you show my property?
Will you do open houses to market my home?
How will you handle dual agency (representing the buyer and you as the seller)?
Should I make repairs to my home before listing?
Will you get professional photos taken of my home?
What is the best price you think we can get for my property?
How long do you expect the sale to take?
You don’t legally need a real estate agent as a buyer, as you can represent yourself, but you should always hire an agent as a home buyer. A professional real estate agent will have access to local MLS services to find homes that meet your criteria and needs, can connect you with other professionals—like a mortgage broker and real estate attorney—you’ll need for the purchase, and can often negotiate a better price for your home to help save you money. Plus, as the buyer, your agent’s commission comes from the seller’s proceeds from the sale of the home.
