"I could not be more pleased with how my new front lawn turned out. I wanted to replace my grass with more water tolerant lawn but still wanted it to look lush and vibrant. Jaime Newman of Mack Landscaping along with Jose Gomez listen to my vision, provided me with a 3D rendering of my house, in order to better visualize it, and all I can say is the final product is just amazing. They were both professional, always keeping me informed as to what was going on, began the job on time and completed it within the estimated time frame. Definitely did not over promise and under deliver. Also kudos to their staff who actually did the work for also being professional and respectful of my home. The photos do not do it justice and yes, the grass is artificial turf!"

"Deteriorated company. I have been a long time customer of Cacti. However, since 2020 the quality of their service has greatly deteriorated. There has been multiple occasions where the crew they sent serviced my neighbor’s house. In addition to that, there were multiple occasions where the crew simply didn’t clean my backyard. I have a Ring system and after checking you can see a Cacti member enter my backyard, looked around, and walk back out. Nothing was cleaned. When you call customer service, don’t expect an apology instead be prepare to provide proof via pictures. When the Cacti crew does perform the service, it is nothing short of sloppy. I gave them 3 years to resolve their issues but it has not improve so I am now changing provider."

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

Yes, an outdoor fireplace should use fire bricks. Fire bricks are specially designed to withstand high levels of heat and thus won’t crack as easily as regular bricks when exposed to the intense heat inside a fireplace.

They offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and resistance to weathering compared to concrete or asphalt.

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.

If you’re attempting to mix and pour your own mortar, expect to pay between $5 to $10 for an 80-pound bag of mix. The cost to repair mortar, however, can range from $300 to $500 for a 20-square-foot wall. The larger the area and the more extensive the repair, the higher the cost.

The material you use depends on how hard-wearing your steps need to be and what you want them to look like. The most common stone for exterior steps is bluestone. It’s hard-wearing and durable, and bluestone steps cost between $15 and $30 per linear foot. Limestone is also a popular option and is mid-range, costing $25 to $50 per linear foot. You should always consider the specific requirements of your project before ordering any materials.
