"We had a first-rate experience with this renovation team. They truly helped us realize the vision of what we imagined, and beautiful results were delivered. A home project of this scale is daunting to say the least and if issues arose they were addressed and resolved. We are absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out and would hire them again."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"We were extremely happy with the whole process.  Ramon came and gave us an estimate the day we called even though he was in Gallup that morning.  Chris and Sergio arrived as scheduled to start the work.  We were concerned the pillars might be load bearing, but Sergio and Chris quickly showed that was not the case and they assured us our roof would not cave in.  Ramon, Chris, and Sergio all were very professional and made sure that we were satisfied with the work. Chris came back on day 2 and finished the job. Ramon told us from the beginning it would be a 2-day job. Chris was diligent about cleaning up each day. We recommend D&R Services and would definitely hire them again.

"When Bob Reule came out to give an estimate, he walked me around the house and roof, pointing out problems, explaining their causes and exactly how he would approach the job.  What I learned was an eye-opener to the many short-cuts some contractors use to come up with a low bid, at the expense of quality, appearance and durability.  Getting that education was a great help in questioning subsequent contractors and evaluating their bids.  Reule was the highest bidder, but for reasons I could appreciate and was quite happy to accept.
The work done by Jay Adams and his crew of four was first-class in every respect.  Great care was taken first in preparation -- power washing, trenching around the foundations, tying back landscaping for protection, and masking windows, doors, wood trim, vigas, patios, etc.  Light fixtures were removed.  Even the tiniest cracks were filled, parapets and walls capped with a waterproof reinforcing layer, protrusions ground down and all surfaces primed.
While I was prepared for some messes, my concern was unwarranted. There was no spraying, as the primer was rolled on and the STO Silco stucco material was troweled and floated.  At the end of each day, all finished areas were unmasked, debris picked up, supplies and equipment stacked out of the way and junk hauled away.  Next morning the crew arrived promptly, planned the day's activities based on the weather conditions, and proceeded with more organization and efficiency than any home repair team I have ever watched.
Disruptions in my activities amounted to only a couple of hours while the scaffolding blocked the garage door, for which I was warned well in advance.  Damage to landscaping was minimal, in some cases even helpful, as they pruned bushes like chamisa back from the perimeter walls.
All in all, I could not be more pleased with the experience and the results.  Reule Sun gets my recommendation without hesitation.

"The last was a rental company that we have and we used them for an air conditioning and heating system. It was Bototach Mechanical. It’s been a good program for us. They’re very responsive. I don’t know what the thought process was. My husband said, well let’s try these guys and so we did. We have an older home and it’s proved to be a very good deal. The quality has been pretty good, so I would give them an A for the quality. I will give you one helpful hint though. If the company decides they want to replace an appliance, you need to call them and negotiate with them because you can upgrade, but you need to talk to them in person not just do it over the internet."

"They are a nice provider. I talked to them on the phone for about 30 minutes and they sent some samples. We were able to get a discount on designer purchases but not useful on designing the space. Once we told them what we wanted, they were able to help purchase from the warehouse and save about $1,500. I think they became too busy with this big deal. You buy a ticket per room and we still actually have a couple left with this provider. After redesigning one room, we kind of ran out of steam and have not designed the other rooms. Overall this is a good service and it's a good concept. Whomever I spoke with, she was really nice. I would recommend this provider. This kind of service seems to be for people with time and knows exactly what they want. They are super helpful with the designer discount from the warehouse. They don't actual design your room which is slight flaw."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

It is almost always more affordable to buy an existing home than to build a new one. Building a home involves numerous costs, including labor, permits, inspections, utility hookups, and brand-new materials, finishes, and appliances. Additionally, new construction loans can have higher interest rates than traditional mortgages, and property taxes on new homes are often higher, increasing long-term costs. An exception is a DIY house build, which can be cheaper than buying an existing home if you do the labor yourself. While building is generally more expensive, a new custom home offers complete control over the layout and design. Furthermore, new construction is typically worth more than a comparable pre-owned home and may provide a better return on investment if sold quickly.

Yes, you can finance new construction, though the process often requires a different type of loan than one for an existing property. There are several financing options available:

  • Construction-to-Permanent Loan: This is a common option where a single loan covers the building costs and then converts into a traditional mortgage once construction is complete and you move in.

  • Construction Loan (Stand-Alone): This type of loan provides funding only for the duration of the construction project. Once the house is built, you will need to pay the loan in full, typically by securing a separate, standard mortgage.

  • Builder Financing: Some custom homebuilders offer their own financing options, which may only require a down payment to begin the building process.

  • Bridge Loan: This can be a useful short-term loan to fund your new construction while you are in the process of selling your old home.

  • Home Equity Options: If you are building a second home, you might be able to use a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance on your current property.

It's also important to be aware that some lenders may have restrictions on financing for DIY house builds, so be sure to verify that you can secure financing before starting your project.

Prefab sheds can be worth it, depending on your needs and goals. If you want to build the shed yourself or have a quick project turnaround, then a prefab shed will likely be worth it. If you want something more customized, then starting from scratch may help you achieve your goals better than a prefab could.

If you want to know from the outset how much you’re likely to pay to install an outdoor basketball court, create a budget breakdown that lists the following expenses:

  • Labor: How many work hours will you need, and what is the average price of labor in your area?

  • Materials: What material do you plan to use, and what is the average price per square foot?

  • Drainage, grading, and laying cement slabs: Do you need to level or prep your area? Have a professional evaluate your property to determine what you will need to pay a contractor to do this work.

  • Hoops, lighting, fencing, painting lines, and other extras: What extras are non-negotiable? Create a list of all of the extras you want your court to have.
