"Allen did an outstanding job installing a 300-foot barbed wire fence on my property. His attention to detail was evident in how he reinforced the corners and gates for added stability. And he also took the time to explain the process and made sure the fence met all safety and durability standards. I?m extremely satisfied with the results and highly recommend Allen for any fencing project."

"I was satisfied with the job they did and I agreed to their quoted price. Had to be rescheduled 2X due to projected weather forecast one day and a scheduling conflict they had another day, but they got the job done. Very happy that I have no heavy tree branches hanging over my roof anymore!"

"Jose was very friendly and professional He came to check the site for a free estimate almost immediately, that was nice and efficient. Jose repaired over 100 feet of old fence on our property! It took one day to place new posts in concrete and another day to repair and replace fence panels. Cost was exceptionally reasonable, work performed was completed professionally, removed all trash and left the site clean. Couldn’t ask for better service. Hire this guy for all your landscaping needs. I will be working with Jose again soon on a new backyard project!"

"Max and his crew were on time and on budget. No change orders and not up charges. Max was spot on the whole time. They did a great job on the block wall, the matching stucco and the wrought Iron fence. In fact they created the fence on site. No pre-fabs."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The recommended height for a garden fence depends on its primary purpose. For pest control, the necessary height varies by animal. To keep out small pests like rabbits, a fence should be at least two to three feet tall. If you live in an area with deer, you will need a much taller fence, at least five feet high, to prevent them from jumping over. If the main goal is privacy, the fence should be at least seven feet tall. For purely decorative fences, the height is a matter of personal preference.

In terms of materials, chicken wire mesh will be the most inexpensive option to use when building your fence. The downside is that it’s not the most attractive garden fence option. In a similar vein, you could choose a DIY fence made out of repurposed items, like car tires, or wooden pallets, either of which would be free to collect.

If you’re part of a homeowners association (HOA), you’ll need to speak with them regarding your fence repairs prior to starting work. Sometimes, you’ll need HOA approval to start repairs and ensure that the completed project meets their standards. In other cases, direct approval might not be required to start the project. Speaking with your HOA first will help avoid any unnecessary fines and headaches.

In most cases, trees need to be protected from deer all year round. This is especially true if you want to protect small trees from deer or if you just planted some fresh, new trees. Once a tree is a few years old, you likely do not have to worry about protecting it from deer as it will be stronger and can handle a little damage.

Since wood is weaker when installed horizontally versus vertically, a horizontal fence is prone to sagging. You can prevent this drooping from happening by building a sturdier fence. Use softwoods that are more stable, such as cedar and redwood, or denser hardwoods for your fence materials. If you can’t afford these pricey materials, use thicker two-by-six pressure-treated pine boards or shorten the span the fence boards have to cover by installing more posts.
