"The crew did the job, digging up and replacing 40 ft of main water line from the city line to the house, including installation of a pressure reducing valve. Overall COST was pretty expensive for labor considering the PEX tubing for the water line was the pretty much the only parts needed minus the pressure valve. I realize they go by a book that determines cost before work is actually done, though and I agreed to it. Kinda hard to get other estimates when you are in a pickle and need water in your home going asap during the holidays. Job got done and the 2 workers were nice guys. One complaint is I asked if there was a Veteran's Discount and they did include it but it was LESS THAN a 3% discount off the subtotal. Taking a star off for this and another for high labor cost."

"I would recommend them. He also made some recommendations and observations I was not aware of about how my furnace was installed. I haven't done anything to confirm or correct that. I think he was very knowledgeable. Their price was very reasonable."

"Service was scheduled for 2 days, I think, after we called, which was fine since this was not an emergency. We told the scheduler that we wanted to replace a leaking exterior hose bib with a frost-free hose bib.

The plumber was polite, friendly, and punctual. After he looked at the existing hose bib, he explained the possible short-term repair, and a possible failure in the longer-term. He had to leave to get the replacement hose bib but returned promptly and finished work quickly. He did minimal damage to the exterior stucco and caulked neatly around the opening. Minimum charge for this company is $100 plus parts, which is what we paid. My only disappointment was that we said we wanted a frost-free hose bib when we called but he arrived without one. Since we were within the minimum charge, the extra time to go get one did not change the final amount. Looking at the sales ticket, it appears that the person who scheduled the visit did not write down the request for installation of a frost-free hose bib.

The whole process was easier than when we've used other plumbing companies in Santa Fe.

"Installing a new kitchen sink, faucet, disposal, and air switch must be hard work or everyone is busy. My first three attempts at getting a plumber to install failed and we never even got to dollars. Pipeworks took the job the other ones, now on my never ask again list, would not. They gave an in-person written estimate, held to the price at job completion, and were always on time. I asked them for an estimate on a replacement water heater before they left â my new go-to-guys."

"It went well. The plumber called to let me know he was running a few minutes late. He examined the garbage disposal when he arrived then the pipes under the sink. He pointed out some issues with the pipes under the sink and with the installation of the current disposal. I had been suspicious about this and agreed with his assessment. He rebuilt the pipes under the sin and installed the disposal. Nothing leaks now! The garbage disposal works as expected. I was extremely satisfied with his professionalism and the installation.

"I called in Steve Gross, he was out to my home within 2 hours, and within 1 hour of using his special gas detection technique he found that this was not a leak, but a "leach". All those years of valve leak had created a mass of water under my home, and the dug pit provided egress for the trapped water. He also found a dead sprinkler solenoid in the front yard and a dead R/O system in the kitchen. Definitely one of the better calls I have made as a homeowner, saved me a bunch on plumbers fees. Steve is a meticulous expert."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

You shouldn’t shower while a sump pump isn’t working. Although household wastewater isn’t supposed to go into the sump pit, it’s best to wait to shower until your sump pump is running properly and able to move excess water out of the basement. If you need to shower when the sump pump isn’t working, aim for a short shower.

In most cases, standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage from a sump pump failure or overflow. Coverage for water damage is often limited to sudden, unexpected events like a burst pipe that was not caused by negligence. To be covered for sump pump issues, you will likely need to purchase a specific rider, endorsement, or additional water backup insurance. If your insurer offers this type of coverage, they may require proof that your sump pump is regularly maintained.

Costs range from $300 to $1,200, depending on the pump type, issue, and installation complexity.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.
