"In May of this year I had re tilled my kitchen and bath. Bought new carpeting; old taken out in living room, dinning, hall and 3 bedrooms and I give Carpet Source 5 stars for all work done. I waited until July to give a report as wanted to see if we had any problems and none. Don Lavato was very helpful in helping us pick out the colors as believe me it can be very confusing when you are looking at so much and so many choices. Don got us down to 2 or 3 and we picked our choice and then I decided that I was not satisfied with what I choose. I called next morning and Don came out and I picked another which I am very happy with. Their service is outstanding, had a slight problem with the kitchen and Dillon to the rescue and it was resolved very quickly. Alexander laid the carpeting and we had no dust what so ever when they took the old carpeting out. To my surprise they finished in a day. Ruth is very nice and helpful and will get you help if need be. They are a great team and can be trusted. Cost is very reasonable and I would use them again. Very satisfied customer"

"My wife and I are very happy with the flooring work provided. We had both carpet and wood vinyl installed in our two story townhouse unit we are preparing to sell. Very responsive, flexible and quality service. We would definitely use Hernan and team for future flooring projects."

"I got my carpets cleaned by this company, he also put a pet treatment on my carpet to get out the odor from pet stains. My carpets look brand new and they smell so much better as well. I would highly recommend this company. Very nice and professional and I feel like I got a good service for the money that I paid."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY installation is challenging; professionals ensure proper fitting, adhesive application, and long-term durability.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

It’s a good idea to install a rug pad under the carpet for your stairs. To make the pad fit, you’ll need to cut one section for each stair tread that’s about one inch narrower than the stair runner so that it won’t be visible once the carpet is installed on top.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.
