He removed the old one and installed the new one. He also cleaned up the water that leaked over when emptying the old one. I called Affordable Plumbing in the morning and he was right over with in the hour. He hooked up my water line for the evaporative cooler while he was here. The cost was much less than what I had anticipated, a whole lot less. I'm satisfied and thankful. He's upfront with cost and no hidden fees. "Contractor keep appointment (even though there were 2 or 3 calls expressing confusion about time and day); installed the drywall and cleaned the area.   The drywall installation was not smooth and when textured looked amateurish at best.  Before I could paint I had to sand several areas and apply canned texture-not the most professional look but time was a factor.  the next time the wall is painted will require extensive prep work to make it look professional.
Good things: appointment keep; work was done as explained; no extra charges.
Not so good: Technician was not a drywall guy.

"I had a home warranty, an extra policy on my house, so I had to use the people that they provided.  Other than their telephone answering, which takes forever, they were really good.  I was always glad that I had that coverage.  They had a person come out to confirm that my dryer was not broken and that it was the vent, and then I hired a provider to come and clean it. I had to pay the service charge for the technician to come out and  check my dryer.  When you try to call them you can never get through on the phone; they don't have enough telephone operators.  I never like to do it online because I wanted to talk to somebody and find out who they were going to pick as my vendor, because one time in all of the times that I used them, they sent me a really, really novice plumber who messed up my sink.  I think I had a broken garbage disposal or something that he didn't have the tools, his truck broke down on the way, he was very young and wet behind the years, and it was a company I never heard of.  So whenever I needed plumbing or maintenance on appliances or something, I would just call them and say I wanna use that other named company.  But they always do an excellent job.  I would say a B overall only because of how hard it is to get in touch with them.  For price, I shopped around before I renewed with them and they were very comparable to other companies and they didn't have a lot of exclusions, so I would say A.  I'm retired now and I won't be buying another house so I had to cancel my contract with them, but if I was going to, yes I would consider using them in the future. "

"A worker from SMRT ("Billy") showed up on the originally scheduled date (6/19) and, on looking at the deck, realized he didn't have all the right equipment for the job, so we rescheduled for the following week [comment--that was fine with me, because he was clearly intent on doing a thorough job].
A week later, Billy and Sam showed up on time and pitched right it.  This wood had not had any care for many years, and showed it.  As nails were popping up, they suggested--and I provided--deck screws, which they put in over the entire deck. The entire deck and the railings were sanded using a small hand power sander, and they applied a wood treatment that I provided for the job.  Overall, the work required attention to detail and a lot of hard work.
This was a hot day to begin with, and only got hotter as it went along. Afternoon temperatures were in the high 90's but these two guys never missed a beat.  They worked essentially non-stop for more than the 4 hours we were entitled to by the "Deal," but they were determined to finish and leave a professional result.  They cleaned up after themselves and disposed of all trash.
They did a great job, and we ended up with a much-improved deck we can now actually use.  Great guys, great job.
