"Pepe and his crew did an awesome job replacing my sewer line in South Santa Fe! Their price was very competitive and their workmanship was top notch. They got the necessary permits and started work the same day. The team worked very hard cutting out an 80’ section of driveway, digging by hand to the old sewer line, replacing it with new cleanouts and back flow valve, backfilling and packing the dirt and pouring new concrete. What a huge effort and a fabulous job done by NE Plumbing & Heating! I highly recommend them!"

"I used Angie's List to look for a plumber and was quite apprehensive based on reading so many negative reviews about how many dishonest plumbers are in Albuquerque. Albuquerque Plumbing, Heating & Cooling called and left a message for me and I called this morning. My toilet wasn't draining, after repeating plunging. Fore Gen Plumbing called and told me their starting price is $129 and I wouldn't find a lower price. They were wrong. Albuquerque Plumbing, Heating & Cooling quoted me $75 for auger service, from the toilet side. The auger didn't work, so the plumber offered $105 drain cleanout service. When the clog was cleared in 5 minutes, he told me the $105 included a 90-day warranty, free reservice if I have any more clogs, leaks, issues. Corey did an outstanding job, very impressed with his professionalism, courtesy, honesty and integrity. Not only did he call ahead, arrived early, he wore a mask and shoe covers."

"We called at 8:30 on a Monday morning. Brenda called back within 15 minutes to confirm that Lino would be onsite within about an hour. Lino called 30 minutes later to indicate he was 15 minutes away.Lino arrived at 9:30 and took apart the drain and removed blockage (improper food in garbage disposal). All repaired in about 30 minutes (paid for one hour minimum). Great Service!

"We noticed that our water bill was very high and the needle at the meter showed we had a small leak (about 1/2 gallon a minute) that was sure to get worse.  We called a plumber who supposedly had the knowledge and equipment to find the leak and repair it, but when they came to our house their equipment wasn't that good.  In short, they couldn't find the leak and they were going to put a valve in the middle of my yard to see if it helped.  In other words, they were like the car mechanic that wants to replace parts until he finds the one that's broken.  I called them off the job, and after some looking here an Angie's List, I called ABQ Leak Locator.  They came out that afternoon and located the leak in a main line in my front yard.  The pipe was 4 1/2 feet under ground, and they spotted it within 16 inches!  I'm not sure how they were so accurate, but I was able to send the plumbers back the next day and they dug down where ABQ Leak Located had placed a flag and found the leak right away.
Using ABQ Leak Locator saved me a ton of money, especially when you consider what plumbers charge.  I used them once before on a rental property we own and they were spot on that time also.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly with non-abrasive cleaners, avoid pouring grease down the drain, and check for leaks under the sink.

There are several homemade solutions for clearing a clogged sink that don’t involve pouring harsh chemicals down your drain. Start by pouring hot (but not boiling) water down the drain. This can help dissolve and flush away grease and gunk. A splash of dish soap down the drain can also cut through fat and make it easier to clear the drain. For a more stubborn blockage, grab a plunger and give it a few firm pumps to dislodge the clog.

Knowing the signs can alert you to a clogged drain line. Clogs cause slow drainage or cause no drainage (if there’s a complete blockage). You may also notice foul odors, gurgling noises, water backing up in other appliances on the same line, or a poorly flushing toilet. If you experience any of these issues and think your line might be clogged, call a plumber.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.
