"We needed someone to install tile around the bathtub at an apartment unit we own. Joey at 2 Daughters Handyman came to the rescue. He quoted us a fair price based on what we could see. However, once he started the work other complications were discovered such as mold behind the existing wall. Joey and his crew were able to take care of each issue and charged us a fair amount for the extra work performed. We were very impressed with his willingness to get the job done in a timely manner. He even went to two or three places on his own to find the tile we wanted. We will definitely use 2 Daughters again and would recommend them to anyone needing his services.

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

The best way to measure moisture levels in drywall is with a moisture meter. Moisture meters feature small probes that you insert into drywall (similar to pushing a pin into the wall). Ideally, you'll take moisture readings at several locations on the wall to get a general idea of the moisture level.

While goats can eat poison ivy and other plants that are harmful to humans, this doesn’t mean they can eat anything. Certain plant species, like azaleas, sumac, nightshade, Virginia creeper, and more, can kill goats. If your property has any of these plants, it won’t qualify for goat rental services. Most rental companies will ask for pictures or videos of your property or even inspect your land themselves to ensure none of these plants are present.

Mold and mildew are the things in basements that actually cause the musty odors, but moisture is the underlying issue that causes mold and mildew growth. Addressing moisture and water problems and then removing materials that are moldy are some of the best ways to get rid of the musty odors. Preventive measures after that—like installing air fresheners and a dehumidifier—can help keep musty odors from returning.

Yes, you can use bleach to remove mold from your aluminum siding, but it’s a powerful cleaning agent, so make sure it’s diluted with water first. A solution of one part bleach and four or five parts water works well. But it’s still a good idea to start by cleaning a small, inconspicuous area of the siding to make sure that the solution doesn’t cause damage or discoloration.

Pressure-treated wood offers some protection from the elements but doesn’t protect against mold. However, if you spot mold growing on pressure-treated wood, it doesn’t indicate rot or an interior fungal infection—the treatment process ensures that the mold stays on the exterior. Keep the wood dry, but if you spot some mold, remove it immediately and clean the area.
