"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"My house was under construction. and had already gotten struck by lightning so time was critical as I knew it could happen again. I have a home with tall roof peaks and built on a hill. They came out quickly and started right away and their prices were way less than the other company s. I will use them again when my barn is constructed."

"Kings Electric came to repair an outlet. Mr. Ethan was more than thorough explaining the problem and his workmanship was absolute professional. He fixed the outlet with safety features that our previous contractor did not install and that is the standard in electrical work. Could not have asked for more. Fair pricing, also. Went above and beyond answering questions we had. Thank you. Would highly recommend."

"Recently purchased a house stuck in 1977. Kye and his team successfully trouble shooted the electrical problems we were having, installed exterior hot tub lines and sub panel, and replaced every electrical device/switch/outlet/fan/heating unit in the home. Work was performed PROFESSIONALLY, on time and on budget with great communication throughout the project. Exceptionally skilled and knowledgable electrician, highly recommended. -CC"

"I normally don’t leave reviews, but working with Chad and SolarWorksGJ was an amazing experience! He was very well informed and thorough from initial sit down to install. He gave me a great deal on my panels and they look amazing on my roof. Very happy with the experience overall."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If half of a string of Christmas lights is out, it is likely because of a single burned-out, loose, or broken bulb within that section. Long strands of lights often contain more than one circuit, so when one bulb fails, it can cause the entire circuit (or half the strand) to go dark. To fix this, inspect the unlit section and test each bulb to ensure it is tight and functioning properly. Replacing the faulty bulb or repairing a damaged shunt will typically solve the problem.

Short circuits can cause fires, electrical burns, and electrocution, which can lead to serious injury or even death. That’s why it’s important to take preventative measures to prevent short circuits, like getting annual electrical maintenance and an electrical inspection every two to five years, depending on the age of your home.

Typically, when a 3-way switch only works when one switch is on, this is one of the most telltale indicators that the switch has gone bad (although this could also be the result of faulty or loose wiring). To diagnose the issue, toggle each switch until the light comes on. Once it’s on, toggle each switch separately again; the switch that doesn’t turn the light off is the bad switch.

The key difference between a circuit breaker versus a surge protector is that circuit breakers shield your entire electrical system from overcurrents and faults, while surge protectors defend your electronic devices against voltage surges and spikes. A circuit breaker interrupts the flow of electricity in a circuit when it detects an overload or short circuit, protecting the wiring from damage and preventing fires. In contrast, a surge protector shields electronic devices from voltage spikes, such as those caused by lightning strikes or power surges, preventing damage to the device’s inner mechanics.

It wouldn’t be abnormal to view all wiring as simply wiring, but wiring has different gauges and can handle different loads. When you’re wiring for 240V, you need wire that is rated at least 240V, but honestly it’s better to spend a little more and just buy 300V wiring. This ensures a margin of safety in case the wiring gets overloaded.
