"The crew did the job, digging up and replacing 40 ft of main water line from the city line to the house, including installation of a pressure reducing valve. Overall COST was pretty expensive for labor considering the PEX tubing for the water line was the pretty much the only parts needed minus the pressure valve. I realize they go by a book that determines cost before work is actually done, though and I agreed to it. Kinda hard to get other estimates when you are in a pickle and need water in your home going asap during the holidays. Job got done and the 2 workers were nice guys. One complaint is I asked if there was a Veteran's Discount and they did include it but it was LESS THAN a 3% discount off the subtotal. Taking a star off for this and another for high labor cost."

"Title: Exceptional, trustworthy plumbing — highly recommended Galactic Mechanical & Plumbing exceeded every expectation. After a frustrating runaround with other companies, Jordan drove up from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, waived the trip charge, and quickly diagnosed that I only needed a faucet fixture (not a full sink). He went to Home Depot, installed the new fixture, fixed a few other small issues, and left everything working — all billed fairly for one hour of labor. Jordan was professional, efficient, and honest; Megan in the office was courteous and helpful. As a longtime local with two homes, I’m already planning to use Galactic as my go-to plumber. Highly recommend them for reliable, respectful, and skilled service. Thank you, Jordan."

Customers say: True professional

LIC # 33557\nFull service landscape company with more than 28 years in business. Horticulturist/owner. \n \n Over the past 30 years I have learned a lot. At New Mexico State University I was educated in Horticulture and Landscape Design. Under the Horticultural program we learned about Agronomy ( soils) , Entomology( insects) , Biology, Chemistry , Pathology ( diseases). Everthing that was needed to be a Professional. Sure I have my education but I've learned so much from my hands on experience.\nMany years ago when I started Summersweet Landscapes. Other landscapers would ask me. "Do you need a degree to do landscaping"? I answered " no you don't , but I do". I started Landscape Design when I was in high school. I was trained by a Horticulturist also from N.M.S.U. He taught us that the Horticultural field was a professional one. And that the industry should be respected as one. Professional. He had all students join Future Farmers of America. It was mandatory , inorder; to be enrolled in his class. We went through competition in design. In my last two years of high school competition I was on both District and State Landscape Design Championship team. I graduated with both high school diploma and two year vocational technical certificate in Horticulture. After high school I attended N.M.S.U. where I got my Bachelor in Science Degree in Agriculture.\nThank you Eric and Carmela.

"Walter and his crew did an excellent job completely relandscaping my yard from the ground up. They ground a stump, did the grading, installed retaining walls and underground drainage, installed sod, planted all kinds plants, and laid boulders, gravel and pavers. They also built two giant brick walls that collectively stretched about half an acre. They were professional, respectful, responsive, kind and they showed up when they said they would. A couple times mistakes were made because of me and they corrected it and didn’t charge me. Overall, we received a great value for the price we paid and we highly recommend their services."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Drain pipes carry wastewater from sinks, toilets, showers, and other fixtures to the main sewer line. They’re typically located within the walls and floors and beneath a home’s foundation. Meanwhile, sewer pipes transport collected wastewater to a septic tank or a municipal sewer system.

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in good working order. Regular maintenance can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become bigger problems, which increases the lifespan of your drain. The frequency with which a drain clogs can depend on factors like the amount of debris, the quality of the installation, and the type of filter used. If your drain accumulates a lot of sediment, it may require more frequent cleaning. It's also a good practice to check the access and exit points after heavy storms. If you notice reduced drainage or any signs of a clog, clean the drain as soon as possible.

There are many things that could cause your basement floor drain to back up. One significant cause of a drainage backup is flushing non-flushable items, such as wipes, paper towels, and facial tissue. Other causes of a backed-up basement floor drain include tree roots impeding the drain pipe or an accumulation of hair, oil, and grease.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.
