"Andrew did wonderful work with several jobs for my suite of offices. I quickly needed a series of smaller job done but he did not treat them like small jobs. He was very careful with his measurements and finishes so each job fit in seemlessly. Recently, I needed all of the stair noses removed and replaced. Andrew chose a sturdier wood for better long- term wear, finished/stained the wood, and installed them beautifully. People actually comment on how nice my stairs are since he re-did the noses. I feel he has a more thoughtful and artistic approach than the average handyman and it truly shows with his finished projects. I have more jobs to be done at my home and I will definitely hire him for future work."

"They did accomplish the job, but did not seem very knowledgeable about electronics and how they are wired.  Father and son operation, and the son knew a little bit about how to hook up my various peripherals, but I had to direct regarding some of the hook-ups.  They did a professional job of the through-the-wall wire installation, but left a minimal amount of "play" in the wires, I so have difficulty cleaning behind the cabinet in which my devices were hidden, or accessing the rear of the devices.  But it all works now, and the Angie's List Deal was inexpensive.

"It is going extraordinarily well.  They are doing it in as painless a way as possible, even though pain is involved of course.  They are being very supportive and doing the work with the greatest of expedience.  Ramon Acosta has an extraordinary eye for design and great overall view.  I am very happy with their work and am delighted to have found them.  I know that both my kitchen and bathroom will look wonderful when they're done.

"All drywall work was performed correctly.  Because of the need to insulate water lines in the wall where the damaged drywall  was being replaced, the crew from Hands On let me know that I needed six feet of one half inch pipe insulation which was not part of the original scope of the task to protect the pipes from freezing in the winter.  They let me quickly go to a plumbing supply store to pick up the needed six feet of one half inch pipe insulation material at my expense of only $2.35 and come back home, and then they installed the insulation on the water pipes as well without slowing up their overall task to replace the damaged drywall.  All final sealing and plastering of the joints between the new drywall and existing adjacent drywall was performed correctly.  The crew was able to disconnect, relocate, return to their original location, and reconnect the existing washer and gas dryer before and after their task correctly. I checked both the washer and dryer afterwards and they perform correctly.  They properly cleaned up the work site and placed all construction waste in a trash bag which I will be able to dispose later.  In conclusion, their work was very professionally and efficiently performed.  The total cost of the repair job was the prepaid labor time of $121 plus $33 paid at the end of the job for materials plus $2.35 paid by me for materials during the job for a grand project total cost of $156.35.

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

If your fan blades are spinning and there is no airflow, your blade pitch may be too flat, or your motor is failing. Adjusting the pitch is a simple DIY task if you have the tools. A failing motor is a bigger problem. You may need to replace your ceiling fan altogether. But fret not, we’ve got a guide for that!

There are many signs of a bad AC fan motor, including if the fan blades don’t spin when the AC kicks on or if they keep spinning when the AC is off. The AC fan cools down the condenser coil, so a faulty motor can also cause the system to overheat. Unusual noises in the exterior AC unit, including grinding or rattling sounds, may also be a sign that the AC fan motor is worn out.

If your ceiling fan is humming, that's usually a sign of an electrical issue. A low-pitched grinding sound could be caused by the motor or a lack of lubrication in the bearings, but a true humming sound will be caused by a failing capacitor or faulty wiring. Unless you have experience with electrical issues, you should call a pro for any ceiling humming noises.

Blower fans are better for preventing mold growth than dehumidifiers because they target the damaged areas and increase the rate of evaporation, which dries out the building materials. Ideally, you should run blower fans and a dehumidifier, as this will allow the fans to move dry air over your damaged building materials, drying out the space even more quickly.

Never add oil unless the fan is specifically designed for it. Most modern ceiling fans are designed with sealed bearings that don’t require oiling. However, some older fans may have oil ports for lubrication. If your fan is older and you hear squeaking or grinding, check the manual or the manufacturer’s website to see if oiling is recommended.
