We had to postpone a couple of days due to the freezing weather early January. I wasn't home the first afternoon they came but was impressed there was no mess or other evidence they had been there, just the first layer of cement in the places needed. I was home the second day they came and they laid down protective tarps in all the area's where they were working. The crew of four knew what they were doing and were very fast and efficient. They covered the cement with the first stucco layer and were gone before I realized they were done the color nearly matched and I was impressed. It turned out they had missed one crack, and when I let Alvaro know, they fixed it while working on the other areas. The third day they finished up and painted the repairs to match the original stucco perfectly. They provided a one year warrantee on workmanship and labor, which was important to me because of the time of year we were making the repairs. Using a wire brush, forcefully scrub the surface to remove paint from metal. You’ll want to remove any lingering rust, too. For larger areas with caked-on rust, you may need to use a wire brush drill attachment. If the paint still won’t budge, apply a chemical paint stripper to the area and scrape off the paint, after following the paint stripper’s instructions.
You can paint over cracked paint, but only if you properly sand down the damaged areas. Once the surface is as smooth as you can get it, clean the walls and let them dry before applying a new coat of paint. Painting over cracked paint without sanding or cleaning beforehand will not cover up the cracks and may even make them look worse.
