At Handyman@Home we are a locally owned Taos company that puts our names and reputations behind every bit of work we do. We are here for the long run and we are here for you. We created this company because of the real need in the Taos community and surrounding areas for professional, timely, dependable, and guaranteed home services. \n \nWhen you call to request Handyman services from Handyman@Home, we make a scheduled appointment (and promise to show up on time), remind you the night before, and personally check up after the work has been completed to make sure you are fully satisfied. \n \nFrom the smallest job imaginable to the more complex...be it carpentry, electrical, tile/plaster/painting, plumbing, landscaping - you name it - we have the expert staff to meet your needs! \n \nWe also accept all major Credit Cards to protect your right to quality and to provide "mini-financing" for those jobs that really need to be done, but may be slightly out of reach at the moment.

Small Appliance Repair FAQs, answered by experts

Choosing the right appliance installation company involves finding an installer with a positive reputation among past customers, works with your specific appliances, and won’t void your manufacturer’s warranty. We recommend you ask the following questions to any installer you’re considering hiring:

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Can you handle the gas line or water line connection I need?

  • Are you certified by my appliance manufacturer for installation?

  • Do you have any customer references I can call?

  • How many years have you been in business?

  • Do you offer discounts if I need multiple appliances installed?

The average lifespan of a microwave is typically between 7 and 10 years, though this can vary. Some models may last as few as 5 years, while high-end or boutique brands can function for up to 15 years.

Several factors influence a microwave's longevity, including its make, model, and quality, as well as how frequently it is used and how well it is maintained.

To extend the life of your microwave, follow these maintenance and usage tips:

  • Clean regularly: Immediately wipe up spills and food debris. For stuck-on food, you can heat a bowl of water with a bit of lemon juice for a minute to create steam, which makes cleaning easier.

  • Maintain filters: For over-the-range microwaves, regularly clean the grease filter underneath to ensure it runs efficiently. Clean or replace other filters as needed.

  • Handle with care: Avoid slamming the door, as this can damage the door switches over time.

  • Use it safely: Never run the microwave when it's empty, and do not put metal objects or dishes with metallic trim inside, as this can damage the appliance and create a fire hazard.

  • Inspect the power cord: Periodically check the cord for any signs of damage.

The standard for most microwave recipes and instructions is 1,000 watts. Other aspects of your microwave need to be considered like size, functionality, and where it will be installed, but 1,000 watts is considered the standard for home cooking. Lower-end models will be 700 watts or less, causing them to heat food more slowly. The maximum wattage for a microwave is usually 1,700 watts.

Ovens are measured by the width, height, and depth of the overall oven (typically in inches). You’ll want to measure the oven not only for the final space it’ll be installed in but also to make sure all the openings in your home to get to your kitchen can accommodate its size.

Regular cleaning, checking ventilation paths, and ensuring correct voltage or power settings maintain efficiency and reduce repair risks.
