"They did an excellent job, and it looks and feels great. Alvaro did a very good job of explaining all options and prices. The house looks fabulous, and it holds the inside temperature better due to the insulation. The clean up was very good. "
"MARC JONES CONSTRUCTION TEAM ARRIVED ON SCHEDULE AND INSTALLED THE SOLAR ARRAY OVER TWO DAYS. ON MONDAY, WE HAD INSPECTION AND A FEW DAYS LATER THE ATTIC WAS INSULATED WITH FOAM TO REDUCE HEAT LOAD ON AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY EXCEPT FOR INADVERTANTLY UNPLUGGING THE SYSTEM CIRCUITBREAKER DURING THE FOAMING OPERATIO. "
"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulating ductwork improves your HVAC system's energy efficiency by protecting the air from external conditions and preventing energy loss as it travels through the ducts. This means your system doesn't have to work as hard to heat or cool your home, leading to lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. Additionally, insulated ducts help maintain a more consistent and stable indoor temperature, enhancing comfort. Proper insulation also improves indoor air quality by reducing the entry of allergens and pollutants and helps prevent problems like condensation and mold formation within the ductwork.
You should not use spray foam insulation in several specific areas. Avoid applying it in spaces exposed to high temperatures, such as near electrical boxes or recessed lighting, unless the foam is specifically rated for such use. Applying foam near electrical boxes can damage the wiring, and using it too close to lightboxes or recessed lights creates a potential fire hazard. Additionally, do not use spray foam in areas prone to shifting or movement, as this can lead to cracks and gaps in the insulation. Finally, open-cell foam is unsuitable for use below ground or in areas exposed to moisture because it can absorb water, which compromises its insulating effectiveness.
It is usually possible to install insulation yourself, but it’s often better to hire an insulation professional. An experienced insulation pro can determine which type of insulation is best for your space and the R-value get the most value and comfort in your home. Certain types of insulation can cause skin, eye, and lung irritation, and a professional will have the equipment necessary to keep themselves safe and limit the effect on your indoor air quality after the installation. Certain types of insulation—like blown-in and loose-fill insulation—demand a professional for proper functionality and safe installation.
The cost of installing spray foam insulation is $2,760 on average, but this cost can be as low as $650 or as high as $7,700. The main cost factor is the size of the insulated area and the type of spray foam insulation.
Polyurethane spray foam costs between $0.44 and $1.50per board foot, where a board foot is equal to the volume of a one-foot length of a board. More expensive options, like soybean or vegetable oil spray foam, range from $1.50 to $3.00 per board foot.
Natural fiber batts and spray foam insulation both work great for soundproofing. Newer materials, such as hemp batts, are more expensive but more effective for insulation and sound blocking. They are also more sustainable. There is also a professional system called Blow-In Blanket Insulation (BIBS) that is soundproof and moisture-resistant. However, BIBS must be installed professionally and can be a costly investment.
