"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"Very clean windows and screens - best I have experienced in the area. Window casings wiped. Reported an issue with skylights. Extremely pleasant young men (3), wasted no time, continually rechecked windows from other angles, including door near bbq."

"Mark scheduled our appointment and arrived punctually after having to reschedule at my request due to weather.  Most of our windows and all of the sliding doors are on a southern exposure and have been exposed to direct sun, sand blasting and high mineral content water splashes. The aviary was also subjected to many years of light to moderate maintenance but was a challenge none the less.  Mark completely transformed the appearance of our glass and made it appear as new.  He also cleaned the screens and left nary a trace that he had been there.  The formulation for his cleaning solution was fully compatible with the birds and there were no ill effects from harsh cleaning chemicals.  We will definitely have this company put on a regularly scheduled maintenance routine from now on.

"I called because my73 year old mother's power had been turned off pending unanticipated electrical repairs in her home. The electrician told me that branches would also have to be trimmed in order for her to pass the PNM and City of Albuquerque inspections. She lives alone with 4 cats, has cancer and is oxygen dependent. She was frantic. I called Eric's Tree Service (#1 on Angie's List) and they gave a first available appointment in March after hearing my mother's story. I called Baca's, and they gave me an estimate and promised to remove the branches the same day. My mother's house passed the inspection and she was able to move back into her home without any more delays, thanks to the willingness of Baca's Tree Service to help her immediately. I would have paid a lot more under the dire circumstances, and when I got the bill in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised that the 10% discount for Angie's List Members was applied. When I called, I told them I had found the company on Angie's List, but I never mentioned the coupon, because I was so relieved to have the help so soon for my mother. Excellent customer service, and I will forever be grateful.

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

Pet-resistant, vinyl-coated polyester is one of the strongest window screen materials available, with some manufacturers touting a 7x increase in strength compared to standard fiberglass screens. Stainless steel security screens are also extremely strong, but they’re not suitable for coastal areas due to the risk of corrosion from salty sea air. If sea air isn’t a concern, stainless steel is extremely tough.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.
