"My roofer recommended Chad's team to remove several downspouts and replace them with gutters that deliver water farther away from my house. I contacted Chad in late January, and the work -- from estimate to ordering materials to installation -- was completed by early March before any spring rains came. What a difference! Chad and Devin got the job done in a matter of hours on a Saturday morning using their special truck to "print" gutters custom-made for my house. Chad lowered the price a tad after realizing that less work would be required than he initially estimated -- something he brought to my attention, rather than vice versa...now how many contractors can you say that about?! In short: Chad was more than fair, the gutter is doing exactly what it should, and both Chad and Devin were a pleasure to have working around my home. I cannot recommend them highly enough!"

"Overall, the stucco job was decent for a reasonable price. I also received a 4 ear warranty, when the rest of the bids we got offered only a two year warranty In the first year, we had a number of callbacks to fix minor defects. At times it could be trying to get someone to come and fix them, but eventually they came and repaired the defects we found at the time. There are still defects to fix. The bad news is that, as far as I can tell, this company is out of business. I called the owner's cell phone and the company phone, and both are no longer in service. The company web site is no longer available. NM Better Business Bureau's web site states that it believes that the company is no longer in business."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Icicles don't necessarily mean your gutters are clogged or bad, but they can indicate an underlying issue. While clogged gutters can cause icicles to form, the problem could also be an ice dam on your roof from poor insulation. In that case, melting snow can refreeze in the gutter even without a clog. Regardless of the cause, the weight of the ice can damage your gutters or even rip them completely off the house. If you are unsure of the underlying problem, it's best to call a roofing company to assess the issue and implement a permanent solution.

Unless you've chosen to install underground downspouts, your gutter downspouts shouldn't touch the ground. If they come into contact with the soil or pavement next to your home, rainwater can back up into them during a storm, preventing them from doing their job effectively. Instead, aim to have your downspouts end about 12 inches from the ground.

When you need to repair your galvanized gutters from leaks and caulk isn’t doing the job, you can solder your gutters with a roofer’s soldering iron. First, you’ll need to clean your gutters thoroughly with a wire brush and remove rust and oxidized paint. Next, you’ll make weld points on the gutter and solder over the connection until it’s completely smooth. You can also hire a roofing company near you to tackle this project.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.

Yes, professionals can spot and rectify downspout issues such as clogs, leaks, or disconnections during cleaning. They ensure proper water flow, protecting the building's foundation and preventing water damage or erosion.
