Customers say: True professional

"I had a basic idea of what I wanted -- but I let Eric take the lead on the design. I was very pleased with the result. You can tell by how his crew worked without his being at the site, that he is a good manager -- their work was excellent."

"My wife said they did an excellent job. They did it incredibly well. He was very willing to take on the job in light of just hearing about it. He didn't have any forewarning. He was physically there and had the equipment and capability to do it immediately. He did it in a timely manner and my wife said he did a very very good job. The price wasn't a steal but it was a fair price. We would use them again."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

You can turn a red brick white through a process called whitewashing. Whitewash isn’t a stain but rather is made from water and white latex paint. Adding more water to the mix will make the solution look lighter when applied, and adding more paint will make it look more white.

It’s called cobblestone because it’s made of stones that are “cobbed” together. A cob is a term that refers to rounded lumps. Originally, cobblestone streets were made from pebbles and stones gathered from riverbeds that had been rounded over time by the passage of water. The term has nothing to do with a cobbler, which is the term for someone who makes and fixes shoes.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recommends placing a mailbox 6 inches to 8 inches back from the curb. If your lot is unusual, speak with town authorities or the local post office to determine the correct placement.

In most cases, painting your brick house is a fine idea that can open up new aesthetic possibilities. However, the paint can slightly shorten the life span of brick, especially if moisture gets trapped underneath the paint layer. Once you paint, you’ll have to keep up with maintenance to avoid flaking and blisters.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.
