"I have a mini split hvac system that suddenly stopped cooling my air. TLC came out, put a fluorescent material in the system to detect any leak in my stem. When the tech returned to see results, he looked in 2 of the 4 cassettes, advised me both were leaking, and any replacement was not compatible the existing condenser unit outside. This procedure costs me just short of $1000. The cost to replace the entire system would be about $22,000. I called another hvac company that replaced the 2 cassettes that TLC said were leaking (no compatible issues) and the system worked fine until again no cool air! The 2nd company returned and tested (previously untested units) the final 2 units and discovered a leak in one. At my request, they replaced the last 2units. My final cost was about $14,000. TLC should have reimbursed the cost of their misdiagnosis $1000. They not only misdiagnosed the issue, but lied about the compatibility of the new cassettes"

"Dana and his wife did an excellent installation of two gate motors, a solar collector with battery, and open/close controls for our existing metal gate. He found that the gate needed to be modified, and he was able to do the modification on the spot. He spot painted the welds to prevent rust, and I got the gates powder coated later. His estimate was good, and the price was very fair. The finished installation is excellent. Almost a year later, one of my gate hinges failed. Dana was able to come out and fix the broken gate within a couple days after I called, and he charged a very reasonable price for the repair. I will definitely call him again for future work. We are very pleased with the work."

"The technician arrived on time and was pleasant and professional. we discussed various options for cleaning the drain and I chose power jetting based on the technician's recommendation for our situation. Unfortunately, they only have one machine so it could not be done until the following Monday at the earliest (three day wait). Since I needed to be able to use the sink, I opted for power drain snake procedure. We also explored replacement of the garbage disposal but they only carried an inferior brand so I opted to simply have our old one removed and the needed drain piping installed. This took longer than expected due to the technician failing to pick up all of the parts needed to complete the task and having to return to their parts supplier. The work was eventually completed satisfactorily. The tech cleaned up nicely and the piping continues to work well three weeks later. I would possibly use TLC again, but would seriously consider others based on this experience."

"Worst company that installed two water heaters and did a bad job. Pipes going crisscross and not getting hotwater quickly despite having a recirculating pump. My property manager hired them. The hot water was taking 5 minutes to come to the tap, and when I complained about it, they sent someone and he just turned the heater to the hottest setting. The person said that's all he can do and said it was a courtesy call and no charges were made as he did nothing which was fair on his part. Still it was taking 5 minutes to come to the tap. I hired another plumber to redo the plumbing, replace a new recirculating pump and also install a water softener and now I get the hot water in every tap instantly. All of a sudden, I get a call from Triple L plumbing that they want to send me an invoice- Not sure what they are thinking and what they have done- basically a terrible job for which I already overpaid them. I told the lady that they did not do a good job in the first place and I had spend a lot of money to rectify the problem. She cutoff the phone saying its ok. I called her back as I wanted to give a feedback to her as a customer who spent almost $5000 and expected them to do a better job and hire better people. She passed the phone to a guy called Lewis who was probably the worst person I ever talked to and was passing racist comments. I will file a complaint on this business."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Most professional excavation teams will charge between $8 and $15 per cubic yard. Calculate the cost by finding the volume of your pool—width x length x depth—and dividing it by 27. Then, multiply the price by the cubic yards from your equation. Budget for complications like a rocky lawn, hard-to-access pool area, or high local labor prices.

A trench that is less than 5 feet deep often doesn't require a protective system. Most residential trenches will not go this deep (the typical residential drainage trench is just 18 inches deep). In the event that an excavator needs to dig more than 5 feet beneath the surface, a protective system is required unless the excavation is in entirely stable rock.

It can take several weeks for the ground to settle after removing a tree, and the soil under larger, more mature trees can take months. The deeper the tree has been ground under the soil, the longer it will take to settle. However, this extra depth can help you plant new landscaping sooner because you’ll have more space for fresh soil.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

Trenching is not the same as boring. Boring uses a drill to make a tunnel for underground utilities, but trenching involves digging with an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. Boring is more precise and expensive, and it’s best for installing utilities underneath buildings, roads, and bodies of water. Trenching is simpler but can cause more disruption to landscaping and ecosystems.
