"We had a prior meeting to review what was involved in preparation (moving furniture and other objects) for the cleaning of the tile and grout. On the 17 April 17 Eric showed up and started the grout cleaning and completed the job in about 4 hours. The grout had not been cleaned for 10 years and was nearly black. He did a great job, the grout lines were a light gray again and tile look like new. He sealed the grout lines and left the space clean. Eric was very careful working around the furniture we were not able to move. It was a real joy to hire someone who is so professional and pleasant. The whole experience was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend Avalanche Cleaning to anyone."

"My husband and I had a very negative experience with a previous contractor.
To make sure we did not repeat that experience, Angie's List helped us in making our decision to contact Albert, the owner of Power Construction.  We have not experienced one moment of regret.
The first job Albert did for us was in repairing and building up our cinder block fence.  It was well done and met not only with our satisfaction, but the satisfaction of our neighbors sharing our fence line.  (I realize this website discourages us from mentioning our neighbors' opinions, but in this type of build which affects more than ourselves, the integrity the build on BOTH sides of the fence cannot be ignored.)  Our yard was cleaner after they completed the job than it had been before they arrived to start the job.
The second job we asked of Albert was to build a shed of high quality.  Before starting the project, Albert discussed things with us in full: He helped us be better consumers by talking us through the details such as, "Where would we like the window(s) and/or skylight?"  True to his word, he started on time.  He always made time for our questions while the work was being done.  He and Joseph worked well together.  (I'm not sure how one gets these two to stop and take a break: They work and work and work!  BUT, whether it's early or late into their day, the quality of their work is constant.)
As the shed was being built, we asked Albert to add a work bench and shelving.  This changed the amount of bid, but not by too much: He did not use that as an opportunity to take advantage of us price-wise.  I think this is another aspect of the way Albert conducts business that speaks about his degree of integrity.
Albert's company is also about the qualities of professionalism, depth of construction knowledge and skill, knowledge and adherence to building codes, use of quality materials, and fulfilling all promises.  We had no reason to "find fault" with his work, but he would not consider the job completed until we were satisfied.  We are sooooo satisfied we hope the next time we contact Albert, it will be to discuss remodeling inside the house.
Yessiree!  We are officially fans of Albert and Power Construction!!!  Our resounding thanks to Power Construction.

Repair Countertops questions, answered by experts

While no countertop material is truly “heatproof,” granite countertops are extremely resistant to high temperatures. Some types of granite can withstand temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. However, we don’t recommend placing hot pots and pans directly on granite countertops. Even if it doesn’t scar the granite, it may damage the sealant.

There are many differences between solid surface and quartz countertops. Whether one is as good as the other will depend on what you value most in a counter. These two materials are nonporous, although quartz is more durable. Some people may prefer the look of quartz, although they’re both available in many different colors and designs.

No, you should not put hot pots or pans directly on epoxy countertops, as this can cause permanent damage. While epoxy is heat-resistant, it is not fully heatproof. Epoxy countertops can typically withstand temperatures ranging from 135°F to 300°F, but cookware directly from a stove or oven can reach much higher temperatures (300°F to 500°F). Placing an extremely hot item on the surface can cause it to melt, soften, or discolor. To protect the integrity and appearance of your countertops, always use a trivet, hot pad, pot holder, or other heat-resistant barrier before setting down hot cookware.

The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.

The cost of granite countertops is around $3,250 for most homeowners, but you could pay as low as $500 or over $4,000, depending on the size of your project and some other factors. In addition to the square feet of granite you need, your pricing will also depend on the following:

  • Granite thickness

  • Quality and rarity of the granite, labeled in levels from one to five

  • Granite color and texture

  • Countertop design
