"Current Electric Contracting LLC was efficient and professional in their overall response to our issue. We had to have a few breakers replaced in our panel. Their pricing was fair. We will definitely keep them in our contractor database and hire them again."

"Carlos & his team were amazing. Carlos went to my home prior to the work to see what kind of work was needed to be done & quoted me a good reasonable price. Carlos & team made sure everything was up to code once the work was completed. I would definitely recommend Fuifio Electrical Services to anyone in need."

"I'm very pleased with the work that Odane did to upgrade my panel to 200 amp and install a Chargepoint HomeFlex EV charger. We have an older home, and the panel upgrade was very complex. Odane worked very hard to get everything just right including professionally enclosing the new main wires in PVC conduit ... Even the town electrical inspector was impressed. He's a very meticulous worker and did a great job keeping me informed. He even helped submit some required paperwork to PSEG so that I can qualify for their EV charger incentive program."

"Triton electric truly deserves a five star rating from me. Triton first completed lighting work for exterior of THE GYM last year and it was done efficiently and exceeded our expectations on timing and professionalism. Over the last 2 months we have begun renovations and a new construction project here at THE GYM, Triton electric was our first choice. From the initial quoting of the job, to the installation, to the consulting with our architect and contractors, Triton has been extremely professional, communicative and reliable. Thomas’s whole team have been a pleasure to work with and we as a company would highly recommend and continue to use them for all of our projects going forward."

Small jobs welcome

"I can’t say enough good things about Indigo Electric! From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and really easy to work with. They handled my electrical needs quickly and efficiently, and everything was done with great attention to detail. What stood out most was their reliability—they showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and made sure I understood the work being done. The pricing was fair, and I never felt pressured into unnecessary upgrades or services. It’s refreshing to work with a company that takes pride in their craftsmanship and truly cares about their customers. I highly recommend Indigo Electric to anyone looking for trustworthy, top-quality electrical work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The size of your home will help determine the size of your electrical panel. Usually, the decision comes down to a 100-amp electrical panel versus a 200-amp panel. Smaller homes, especially those without an HVAC system, may be able to get by with a 100-amp panel.

If you have a larger home or need to power AC, a 200-amp panel should be the best fit. It’s unlikely that you’ll need a larger panel than that unless you have a larger home or unique electrical needs, but an electrician can help you make the final call.

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

When converting a standard 120-volt outlet to a 240-volt outlet, the only components you can typically reuse are the existing electrical box and the hole in the wall. Everything else—including the wiring, breaker, and receptacle—should be replaced to ensure both safety and efficiency. Appliances designed for 240 volts have different plug configurations that won’t fit into a standard 120-volt outlet, making it necessary to install a compatible 240-volt receptacle. This design helps prevent overloading or underloading the power available to any one outlet or circuit.

You should never wire neutral and ground wires together at a light switch. Not only is it unsafe, but it’s also incorrect. The neutral and ground wires perform separate functions in an electrical circuit and should never be swapped or wired together at a light switch, light, or outlet.

It depends on where you live. Some cities may require a permit for electrical work, while others don’t. You’ll need to call your city’s building department to determine if you’ll need to apply for a permit or not. If a permit is required, you’ll likely have to pay a fee for it.
