"Bill was very responsive to my inquiries and his price was reasonable compared to two other stone repairing companies I had contacted. My green marble floor was scratched up by the plumber I had hired to replace my toilet. See the before and after pictures. The scratches are gone and my marble floor is shiny and new again. Even the grout got cleaned up. Just a note, they don't accept credit card payments. I paid by check."

"I recently collaborated with AVSTEP for various home improvement projects, including roof repair, patio door replacement, electrical work, ceiling recess light installment, new flooring, curtain rack installation, water pipe replacement and ceiling replacement. I am extremely pleased with their work. AVSTEP's expertise in roof repair was evident as they efficiently addressed and explained the issues, providing me with confidence throughout the process. The patio door replacement was seamlessly executed, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. Their electrical work adhered to the highest safety standards, and the installation of recessed lights showcased their modern design sensibility. The new flooring, curtain rack, and ceiling replacement projects were executed with precision, adding to the overall appeal of my home. AVSTEP's attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to quality make them my preferred contractor for future projects. "Great job! I had an old drop in stove removed and replaced with a slide in. The counter and floor tiles needed to be cut so the stove could fit. This along with some other install problems we weren't expecting, they fixed all of them, looks beautiful."

Marble Restoration FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, you can repair a stone countertop yourself for minor issues like small chips or scratches, and DIY repair kits are available for this purpose. However, for larger problems such as major cracks or significant stains, DIY repairs may not be effective. In these cases, professional services are recommended to ensure a seamless finish, prevent further damage, and use the proper materials and techniques for a full restoration.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

There are three main downsides to quartzite: the cost, the porosity, and the weight. As a natural stone, there’s a level of scarcity that can drive up the price of certain types of quartzite. Even more common varieties are less affordable than synthetic materials like laminate and other natural stones like granite.

You’ll also have to reseal your quartzite countertop annually to combat the natural porosity and reinforce your cabinets to account for the added weight.

While quartz is highly stain-resistant, it is not completely stain-proof. Spills, including water, should be wiped up as soon as possible to prevent staining. Minor stains are usually not permanent and can be removed using a quartz-safe cleaner, a simple mixture of dish soap and water, or a baking soda paste applied with a soft microfiber cloth. For severe stains that persist, professional treatment may be necessary, and in rare cases, countertop repair or replacement might be required.

Marble countertops are often considered better than limestone because of their superior durability and luxurious appearance. Marble is harder and less prone to scratching and denting, though it still requires maintenance and sealing to prevent stains and etching. Marble is typically more expensive, but its beautiful veining and range of colors offer a high-end look.
