"Shay came the same day for an estimate and gave me good advice about upgrading to a new, larger panel. They did a great job at a reasonable price, a pleasure to work with. I would use them again when I have electrical needs."

"
Our electric service was ripped off our home during a storm and we lost full electrical service to the home. Joe from Electric Power came promptly, coordinated with the Township as well as the power company and began repairing our service the next day. They were professional and delivered such high quality service. They responded to my calls and texts and were incredibly sensitive to the needs of my 80 year old mother. They explained everything that needed to be done in detail.  I would definately use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Small jobs welcome

"My job was complicate because there is agency that need to approve the work FEMA and the township of Keansburg . So I looked around for some time I interview few contractors and was not sure but luckily Tom was recommended by one of my friends I interviewed him and was very much satisfied impressed by the answers and knowledge of what needed to be done. We shocked hands and complete the form to get the permit from the township no issue everything was fine. He showed do the job in time. The job was done very quickly and clean . The inspection passed the electrical work and the laid out of the cable and panel. With complement for the electrical inspector. I receive Communication from the electrical company that they will connect the electrical wire to the house. Thank Tom I almost forgot the price for the work was less than the other’s contractor. I recommend Contaldi electrical contractor. And gives them my genuine thanks I know that because of Tom work I would have electricity. Thank"

"Mike was fantastic! The price for installation of recessed lighting was very fair. Mike took the time to go over what I wanted, gave me his feed back and was very professional. I was absolutely thrilled when the installation was complete. I would recommend A Shore Thing Electric to everyone I know. I would tell anyone looking to hire an electrician to call Mike first!!!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It depends on where you live. Some cities may require a permit for electrical work, while others don’t. You’ll need to call your city’s building department to determine if you’ll need to apply for a permit or not. If a permit is required, you’ll likely have to pay a fee for it.

While you might not need to put lights and outlets on separate circuits, some local codes may require that you use separate circuits. Installing a separate circuit helps prevent total darkness in your home when your receptacle outlets take on too much power and blow a fuse or trip the breaker. It also costs less and is easier to simply install a new circuit.

Unfortunately, yes, a wall outlet can just go bad. You could’ve purchased a faulty outlet, had it improperly installed, or just blown a fuse in your home. Regardless of what caused the issue, it’s important for you to hire the right professional for this job so they can get it done right the first time.

Outlets do wear out, usually within 15-25 years, but they can fail even sooner than that —sometimes in a matter of years. If your plugs always slide out after you put them in, this is a sign your outlets need to be replaced. Additionally, if your outlets are damaged, cracked, discolored, or regularly tripping the circuit breaker, they may be at the end of their life.

The standard copper wire gauge to use with any 30-amp circuit is a 10-gauge wire. The National Electric Code specifies a 10-gauge wire with appliances like water heaters running on 30 amps. If you try to use a smaller gauge wire, such as a 12 gauge, with a 30-amp breaker, you run the risk of the wire overheating and melting or causing a fire. Because of the safety hazards, the gauge of the wire is not an area to try to cut costs when connecting a 30-amp breaker to a water heater.
