I love cleaning and organization. I take pride in cleaning because it helps with many things in life such as physical health, mental health and busy schedules. I worked as a custodian for an internet company cleaning 3 data centers and fell in love with the independent schedule I could make while doing a job that matters. I would work closely with the client to see what is most important to them and give them a service they would be proud of. What would make my services preferable is my experience of doing this on a larger scale to begin with.

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, using an oven cleaner is a great alternative for cleaning your stovetop. Remove any grates and then spray the surface down. Allow the cleaner to sit for about 20 minutes, and then scrub it clean with a damp non-abrasive sponge. Dry and polish it off using a dry microfiber towel, and you’re done.

Putting off cleaning your fridge is a bad idea for a few reasons. For one, any food spills can build up, making it much harder to clean your fridge when you finally do get around to it. Plus, any stray pickle juice or leaky leftovers are a recipe for a stinky fridge.

But beyond that, if you don’t clean your fridge, it could be a health hazard. Old food can turn moldy and old spills can too. Even if none of that scares you, putting off cleaning your fridge will make it look downright gross, which should be reason enough to break out your sponge.

Cash is typically preferred for a tip, especially for smaller companies and housecleaners, but many now accept check, credit, or payments through Venmo and Apply Pay. If you’re unsure, check with your cleaning company prior to their first visit in case you need to make a quick trip to the bank.

If left untreated, the smell of pet urine may not go away on its own. This is because urine is a surfactant that can penetrate fabric and upholstery, even some porous concrete. Plus, urine attracts bacteria, which can worsen the smell. When dealing with urine on your couch, treat it immediately or pay for the cost of a house cleaner. Most pros charge between $30 and $50 per hour.

Without treatment, pet dander can linger in the air for months—even if the pet is no longer in the home. These microscopic allergens often stick to furniture, bedding, and carpeting, causing long-term allergic reactions. Additionally, pet dander can enter a house on a person’s clothing or shoes—so, even if you don’t have pets at home, you could still have pet dander.
