"Excellent! The team worked diligently for 5 days to install a central air system in our old house with Plaster Walls. It was NOT easy, yet they did a fantastic job. They were able to add all ducts to the first floor with out any "chases" or enclosures requiring to be build. And almost none of our first floor lines up with our second floor closets, but they figured it out. Great time and fantastic service. Make sure you get Brandon and Sean. The work their butts off, and ensure your house stays clean (they cleaned up everything after every day - not an easy feat). Cannot say how happy am I with their work!"

"We were told by PSEG that we needed a new condenser and coils for our central air unit at an approximate cost of $3500 for the condenser or $9000 to "do it right with up to date coolant! We were told the same by another HVAC contractor as well. Robert arrived on time, over July 4th weekend, and within 5 minutes told me that there was a loose wire. He replaced all the old wiring and within 15 minutes had it running perfectly at a cost of $260! I highly recommend Robert and Phase II- he arrived on time, was professional and above all elseHe Was Honest!"

"Scope of project: Install two AC units in my house with new duct work. One traditional split system and a ductless mini-split. Background: I am a detailed oriented consumer that does his homework. The selection process I followed before hiring Dun Rite included an investigation of the AC units I wanted to purchase, cost estimates of components the vendor would need for the installation, 3 bid process with reputable vendors, reference checks, and confirmation of insurance coverage. Initial meeting: My initial meeting with Peter went very well. He spent time explaining the best way to approach my project and what his recommendations were to achieve the best results. He is very knowledgeable and confident. He was on time and professional. Pricing: Dun Rites initial pricing was very competitive. To be honest, no other contractor could come close to the pricing offered by Dun Rite for superior quality. Quality: Pete and his team did exceptional work even by my high standards. The work they performed was very impressive. The methods they use to install new ductwork could not compare to any of the other vendors I researched. Peter’s team installed no soffits or disrupted any closets. Larry and Larry, the installers that worked on my project, were very professional and demonstrated exceptional workmanship. Any issues that were discovered during the project were addressed in a timely manner. Comments / Observations: Peter is a very hard worker and takes on many responsibilities in running the business. He moves quickly to insure everything gets done, so you need to keep up. Texting him or calling him is much better than sending an email if you need an immediate response. He is always on the go. I only make or write recommendations for vendors that are exceptional and I can tell you, Dun Rite heating and cooling is one you can trust. I would use them again and recommend them to family and friends."

"Miguel and his team have provided attentive and thorough service for all our electrical needs for nearly four years. We have used them time and time again and find them trustworthy and knowledgeable. Miguel takes his time to explain different options and keeps our budget in mind. We used MDL to install our whole house generator. They took care of permits and everything was done seamlessly. They also recently installed a new AC quickly when ours failed. We use them for yearly maintainace of our AC units and generator and every minor electrical repair in our older home. My husband and I highly recommend MDL Electric."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, a freon leak will persist even when your AC unit is off. The freon in the AC unit is under pressure no matter the status of the system, so it will continue to drip through the leak even when you shut off the entire unit. It will continue to leak freon until it’s completely empty.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

There are many signs of a bad AC fan motor, including if the fan blades don’t spin when the AC kicks on or if they keep spinning when the AC is off. The AC fan cools down the condenser coil, so a faulty motor can also cause the system to overheat. Unusual noises in the exterior AC unit, including grinding or rattling sounds, may also be a sign that the AC fan motor is worn out.

Common signs of insufficient return air include uneven temperatures, with some parts of your home feeling hotter or colder than others, and noticeable differences in air pressure between rooms. You might also observe that more air is blowing in rooms closer to the AC unit. Leaky air ducts can also be a related issue or clue.
