"I would refer anyone looking for a general contractor in OCNJ or surrounding area to Shore Points OC. The work on our decks/sliding doors was done on time with high quality and attention to detail. Mario sent pictures and video of the progress when I was not able to be on site, and the communication was great We will definitely use them again."

"The only negative. Comment I have is that the initial price I was quoted was revised after I agreed to hire the company. The reason I was given was that a second person was needed to handle the large pantry cabinet which was the reason I needed to hire them in the first place â this need was obvious from the initial look into the scope of work."

"Highly recommend Tangradi Construction for their quality workmanship. We trusted Anthony to complete multiple projects for us that included a new deck and in each case impressed us with his professionalism, efficiency and gifted carpentry skills. They left their work areas clean everyday and gave us so much more than the results we expected. End results were excellent."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Most towns and cities have regulations regarding sign dimensions for businesses. If you're opening a new business, contact the town or city's local zoning board to see the specifications you need to follow when getting your sign created. There may also be rules regarding how high your sign can sit. Be sure to learn about specifications before having your sign made. Sign companies generally won't offer refunds once custom signs have been fabricated.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.

Depending on what the blueprints are for, a qualified draftsperson, contractor, or architect can draw them up. In some cases, including specialty permitting for a build, you may be required to use a licensed architect.

In many cases, a blueprint drawn up by a certified professional is required before a city or municipality approves a permit.

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.
