"We are a national Contractor doing work all over the US, jobs are small/medium in scale and the schedules are very tight and must be maintained, of the 50+ concrete contractors we will typically use each year, ProCrete is hands down at the top of the list. Great pricing, always on time with completions, quality of work is always excellent and they are always willing to go the extra mile (literally as they have done projects for me in NJ, NY, MD, DE). I only wish they were nationwide as I would give them ALL my work, without question!! Very Highly recommended!!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Pete Mays and the guys from Precision were excellent, I cannot recommend them more for driveway projects. Pete's estimate and drawings were well drawn out and professional. The quality of the work AND the team top notch. The job was completed on schedule and within the estimate. They were conscientious of my neighbors and cleaned up each day."

"I did a lot of research on asphalt sealing before I went ahead with this. Angelo met all of the requirements and then some. Had the mixing tank, which is required, had the right mixture, did the edges of the driveway which are so important. Neat, I have five concrete pads on the sides of the driveway he did not get any material on them. Meticulous in his work. Had the driveway done before but not this quality. I will use him again anytime. If you can power wash your driveway first( seal oil oil spots and fill cracks ) Although Angelo will do it for you Gladly I am a do it myself person but no more he is going to take of it from now on. I have used three Home Adviser contractors so far and had fantastic results Love home adviser."

"EXCELLENT JOB. I had contacted a few companies to do the work. Fred was reasonable and the most responsive to what I wanted to have done. His communication was great and while I pondered over color, he sent me several photos to help with my choice. I was at work when his crew did the tear out and he sent me photos during the day which I appreciated. His crew was so hard working. They cleaned up after each day and power washed my driveway when the job was done. I could not be happier with their work. Several neighbors stopped by saying how good it looked. Would definitely recommend."

"Home Techs repaired the rotted out deck header on our condo building. We were very impressed with Joe's knowledge, professionalism, thoroughness and his patience and willingness to be available to answer any and all questions and explain what was needed to repair the header and decks. Joe was in constant communication with us and even went above and beyond by repairing additional items that were not on the original plans. He and his crew were a pleasure to work with and we would have no hesitation to use them for future projects and I would recommend them without reservation."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

It’s best to weigh the pros and cons of each material and decide on your priorities for your driveway. Gravel won’t be an appropriate choice if your driveway experiences heavy traffic. You’ll find that you need to level and top it off regularly, which could make the material a much more expensive option.

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.

A solid driveway starts with the right asphalt mix, and for most homes, dense-graded hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most recommended. It’s both durable and flexible, making it a reliable choice for residential use. A properly compacted 2-3 inch layer on a well-prepared crushed stone base will hold up for years. In areas with harsh winters or scorching summers, a slightly modified mix can help prevent cracking and rutting. No matter the climate, quality installation is just as important as the material itself, so hiring an experienced contractor ensures a smooth, long-lasting driveway built to last.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.
