"Dan was prompt with communications and appointment time. Very pleasant and did a great job! He restored the marble top on my grandfather's antique table, which we thought had some water stains. Turns out the faults were embedded in the marble. It now looks great! We learned a bit about marble, too! Would highly recommend Dan!"

"This was far more than just a tile repair and took several days. My shower pan needed to be replaced and the floor completely remade to be at the right angle. THEN he retiled the whole thing. He even fixed the shower door for me since the previous owner installed it poorly! His work is meticulous and looks amazing. He clearly takes pride in his work. He was also very careful to keep the dust from demo as small as he could and always cleaned up after he left. He was always so cheerful and polite. I will definitely hire him for any other work I need done in my house!!"

"An excellent experience from picking out the countertops to installation. The customer service reps and installation crew were courteous and knowledgeable. Pricing was excellent. We actually thought we were going to pay double the price. The job took less a week from beginning to end. Our kitchen looks beautiful!! Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

No, you cannot use vinegar to polish marble. It is too acidic for cleaning or polishing and can etch the surface. Instead, opt for non-acidic cleaners made specifically for marble. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure proper application and to protect the marble. However, a damp mop can be an effective marble cleaner when used appropriately and as long as moisture is immediately soaked up.

Marble countertops can last from 20 to 100 years, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking for durability. The life span depends on several factors, including how well you take care of your marble countertops. Marble is a porous material, so it can require more upkeep than other countertop options.

You can cut food on tough, scratch-resistant granite countertops. However, these hard surfaces can quickly dull your knife blades, and continual cutting in the same spot can eventually lead to marks forming and compromising the protective sealant. As with any countertop material, it’s always best to use a chopping board.

For most homeowners, quartz and quartzite countertops are similar in price. The average quartz countertop installation costs $80 to $220 per square foot, while quartz countertops cost $70 to $200 per square foot. Of course, there are outliers, like if you choose a highly customized, rare natural stone with high-end finishes.

Acid can seriously damage granite countertops and lead to etching and erosion. This is why cleaning with vinegar isn’t recommended. Other acidic items that you should keep away from your granite countertops include:

  • Citrus

  • Acetone nail polish remover

  • Tomatoes

  • Ammonia

In addition, always steer clear of using bleach on or around your granite as it will degrade the countertop’s sealant quickly.
