"I recently had Best Dressed Electric replace my doorbell chime and fix some lighting issues in my home, and I’m extremely satisfied with the service. "I would highly recommend Ken for electrical work. We had our full electrical panel replaced and service upgraded with him. Before we had it done, we had an issue with the main breaker repeatedly tripping- leaving us without power. He came out the same morning and did a quick fix to hold us over until permitting- we were not without power for long, thanks to him. The panel replacement and service upgrade was not a quick job, but he stayed late until it was finished and we couldn’t be happier with the quality. His prices are reasonable, as well. I will be calling him if we need an electrician in the future!"

"Very nice and professional. Price was in the average range of what we had researched and cheaper than our other two estimates. Work was awesome. The system is installed and is barely noticeable. I definitely recommend WB Lightning Rods."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To prevent a plug from overheating, always ensure that the electrical load connected to the plug does not exceed the plug's capacity. If the plug feels hot to the touch or emits a burning smell, immediately shut off the circuit breaker and unplug all devices from the hot outlet. Prevent electrical fires by avoiding using extension cords or adapters with the plug, as they can cause it to overheat due to increased resistance. Additionally, ensure that the plug is properly inserted into the outlet and that the outlet is not damaged or loose.

There are a few signs of a faulty or failing dimmer switch. This includes your dimmer overheating or feeling warm to the touch, buzzing or clicking noises coming from the dimmer, your dimmer failing to properly dim the lights, and flickering lights. That said, these signs could signal other electrical issues. You’ll need a pro to figure out if your dimmer is the source.

Running conduits through an exterior wall is an effective method for powering outdoor spaces. From gardens to sheds to garages and more, it can be important to have electricity outdoors. Using conduit, which safely covers wires outdoors, is an easy way to get power where homeowners need it.

You shouldn’t try to touch the electric fence, as it will shock you. Typically, the shock is low enough to be uncomfortable to humans or animals that come into contact with the fence. But an electric fence with high voltage, or a faulty fence, could shock you and cause serious injuries when touched.

Daisy-chaining refers to placing multiple GFCI outlets in a row along the same circuit. This won’t do any harm, but it’s of limited usefulness because a properly-placed GFCI can monitor all downstream outlets on its own. Multiple GFCI installations won’t usually increase safety except in special cases.
