"I was very pleased with the audit which helped to identify needed fixes. As a result, last winter was a much more pleasant experience at home and we used less propane"

"We had a whole house Generac generator installed by K Hanrahan in August 2021. We were beyond pleased with their prompt and efficient service. They handled the whole process from planning to permitting and installation. Everyone in their company was efficient and friendly. I highly recommend them."

"Ira was cordial and professional. He has practical experience and knowledge of residential energy audits. He was able to provide useful suggestions but not definitive solutions to issues. That may have been due to inaccessible interior walls. I am frustrated that a full written report that had been promised still has not been produced six weeks later."

"Went well. Gary the technician was very professional and personable. He inspected the 23 year old system, provided me with a detailed explanation of what he found with recommendations for the future. Left me a written report. For this upcoming season, I should be OK. Would definitely hire Green Heating, Cooling, Electrical again."

"

Eco Green Solutions were great to deal with.  They came to the home for an initial consultation and provided me with great solutions for the heat loss problem I had in the home.  The salesperson provided me a clean understandable proposal with different options I could choose from depending on my budget.

When we agreed upon the scope their office scheduled an appointment with me to schedule the work.  Their crew showed up on time, wore booties on their feet to keep my floors as clean as possible and did a remarkable job patching and priming the walls for painting.  I wasn't home when the work was performed, but the painting contractor I had in the home at the same time commented on how professional they were and how they made his job so much easier.

As a homeowner, heating and cooling cost are real concerns.  I highly recommend anyone considered with those things like I am to have Eco Green Solutions do an energy audit of their home and see where they can save.

"My husband and I are first time home buyers and we thoroughly did our research before choosing a home inspector. We are more than pleased with Igor's professionalism and quality of work. He took his time with us and explained everything. Most importantly he gave us pointers on how to maintain our house after we purchase it. Igor is extremely knowledgable and thorough in everything that he does. In fact our real estate agent thought he was great as well and now she recommends him to other clients as well! Defiantly go with Igor from Eagle Eye Inspections, you would not be disappointed!"

"The contractor came even earlier than expected and spent over 2 hours looking at my home. Needless to say, his suggestions to improve energy efficiency were numerous, some more costly than others, some things that I could do on my own. The estimate I got from this company was in line with another insulation company's estimate. I'm uncertain which of the two companies I'd go with, though. The $25 charge for an estimate was more than I'd usually pay for an estimate (ha) but he had lots of information and didn't mind all of my many questions. A good place to start if you're wanting information.

"Person who visited was very polite and noted that what I purchased was likely not something that would meet my expectations.  I wanted an energy audit, how my systems could be improved in home, lighting, heating, insulation and air conditioners.  What I got was a list of things they could work on and the price to do that work.  The work list in no way was considered an energy audit, rather it was a punch list of things I could do based on their visual inspection.  I did not have a comparison of work and benefit/savings calculation.  There was no checklist of inefficiencies and how that translated into energy losses. For example, multiple hi hat lights in house, they spoke about boxing and insulating a few, less than 10, when I have almost 90 in house.  Overall I was disappointed, the tech who came said the offering needed to be better presented prior to start of work."

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

HVAC systems use the most household electricity. This major and essential system is responsible for heating and cooling your home all year round. Since they operate for a significant amount during the day, it consumes more energy than other appliances.

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.

When combined with a substantial solar system, if you have enough Powerwalls, you could go off-grid and be energy independent. But remember, you'd need enough Powerwalls to power your whole home continuously because a single Powerwall can’t power large appliances for extended periods. One Powerwall is able to power an average-sized home's emergency circuits, lights, and outlets. To power large appliances, you likely need two or three Powerwalls.

R-value measures an insulation material's thermal resistance, indicating its ability to resist heat transfer. A higher R-value signifies better insulation performance because the material is more effective at slowing heat flow. The R-value depends on the type, thickness, and density of the insulation material, such as fiberglass, foam, or cellulose. Each inch of insulation typically provides an R-value between 3 and 8. There is no single universal R-value; the optimal choice depends on your climate zone. Colder climates require a much higher R-value than warmer ones to maintain energy efficiency, keep the home warm in winter and cool in summer, and manage costs.

Energy-efficient windows are judged on their performance according to a few different factors, including heat transfer, air leakage, light transference, and condensation resistance. If you're unsure whether a window is energy-efficient, look for an ENERGY STAR® label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If various products, including windows, meet energy-efficiency standards set by the federal government, the EPA issues this label to help consumers identify energy-efficient products.
