"While we had some initial scheduling issues, and the job took longer than I was told it would take, the work was very good. With a big job like this, I'd rather the technicians take their time and do it right than rush through it for my own convenience. Gavin Electric looks like it operates by this principle, that things should be done well and time should be taken to do that.
The two technicians were meticulous in the installation, setting the panel up neatly and filling in holes made in masonry and the concrete slab, and so on. They followed all safety codes, bonding the appropriate components like plumbing and furnace, installing new grounding rods, and updating the meter and the overhead drop. I was pleased that they cleaned up after themselves after the work was completed, and left me the old panel for reference. They also assisted me in starting up and powering the house with my generator, offering advice on how to manage power loads and operate it efficiently. 
Ken, the owner, handled the administrative side. He was very responsive and answered the many questions I had about this complicated upgrade. He also assisted me in spec'ing a generator that would work well with components they were installing, and didn't try to sell me a generator.
In terms of price, you probably won't find any better. We actually had less work quoted to us for $5 grand, and Ken took a chance by giving me a quote over the phone and using pictures I emailed to him.
Based on the last few days after the upgrade, and the test we did with the generator, I'd recommend Gavin based on my experience with this big job.
