"Michael was amazing to work with. We hired A &A to remove and replace the concrete sidewalk outside our building and install pavers around the tree bed. He and his team were highly professional and did excellent quality work."

"The men were prompt in arriving and worked on refurbishing older concrete steps and a section of patio wall. A week later I noticed cracks developing on the stairs, which Progressive quickly returned to correct. For now, the work is satisfactory."

"It was great and they are great!   I can't say enough about their professionalism both with the person that gave me the quote and the guys who performed the work.   Very knowledgeable about the process and took great care to be sure nothing was damaged.   They came in, drilled holes in the concrete, and pumped a polymer-type product, PolyLevel,  in through special attachments that were removed after the process.  There were 4 holes in the concrete that they patched and you have to look for them to see them now.  I imagine by spring when we open the pool they will be practically unnoticeable.
We decided to use BQ Basement Systems because they were the only ones that used the PolyLevel.   I really did not want to have someone digging, chipping and pouring concrete that close to the pool wall.   This system was quick and safe.   It cured almost immediately and we were not inconvenience in the least.  I can't imaging the nightmare of the other way, the dirt, the concrete truck on the driveway, the time to dry.   Glad we picked the best company.
Thank you Angie's List and Thank you BQ Basement Systems.  You have restored my faith in getting good contractors.

"Ryan came out to look at my basement for waterproofing. We had previously found a solution that seemed to work. He still came out and did not push any sales tactics. Very professional and personable. We were quoted for work but decided not to go through with it, only bc the previous solution seems to be the fix. But will definitely use them in any future projects."

"This company was a pleasure to deal with from the initial inspection and estimate to the finish with a dry basement. It absolutely poured the next week and the basement stayed bone dry. All members of the crew were respectful, were aware of Covid safety,, and actually finished the job, including installing a French drain and sump pump, as well as reposting the crumbling walls, ahead of schedule. Highly recommend."

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you will need a building permit for cement work on your property. You need a permit for any project that adds a permanent foundation on your property—which, in most cases, includes even a flat slab of concrete poured directly on the ground. Building permits for concrete projects usually cost between $100 and $500, although this can get higher for larger projects. You can always ask your cement company if a permit is necessary for your project, and the expert will typically pull the permit for you to save you time and energy.

If you've decided you'd like to skip the cost of restoring a brick exterior wall after considering whether you should repair or replace brick on your house, you can consider installing fiber cement siding over brick for a cost of $2 to $6 per square foot. When done properly, cement siding over brick offers a durable, low-maintenance option that can actually reduce your home's energy costs. It's also attractive. However, improper installation or installation over heavily compromised brick can cause water damage.

Unfortunately, concrete cracks happen, so there’s no surefire way to avoid them long-term. To slow down the cracking, apply a sealant every two to three years and use sand rather than salt to melt snow or ice. Using salt speeds up the freeze-thaw cycle, which may increase the likelihood of cracking. Additionally, keep vehicles and heavy machinery off of your concrete, as the weight can lead to more cracking.

The actual moisture level that is acceptable for your concrete floor depends on what primer or flooring material you plan to install above it. For this reason, you should check the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact details.

Generally, the moisture levels should be 3.5% to 4.5%, although it does vary. Some products can handle higher levels of moisture, so you should always test your concrete before purchasing your flooring materials.

Yes, you can pour concrete if it rained the day before, but you’ll need to drain the construction site to ensure there isn’t standing water where your slab will sit. You might need to manually remove any puddles and set up drainage on your site to dry it before pouring. Moist soil won’t be an issue, but standing water will throw off your concrete mix ratios. Additionally, ensure there isn’t more rain expected in the near future before you pour.
