"John and his crew installed a 300 ft + driveway and turn around area for us in October of 2020. He and his guys did an outstanding job. Some of the prep was completed prior by another contractor 3 years before. John quickly assessed the drainage issues perfectly. We are situated on a hill and we have not had a significant puddle in our driveway yet. He widened our driveway quite a bit and raised the end of our driveway to prevent the waterfall we had before. Someone drove over it on to our lawn and made a mess getting out - his paving and border held perfectly. I am convinced you will be happy with his work. He is also extremely responsive, on time and flexible. We could not be more pleased. ;-)) Nancy and Brian"

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel. 

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.
