"All I can say is WOW! Rich and his staff were great! I hired RAP Painting and Pressure Washing to pressure wash my house and deck. Rich was able to come to my house and assess the job so he could give me a quote. What I thought for sure would wind up costing me about $1000 only costs me $625. He was also able to complete a task that I did not originally ask about and what many failed to do. That was remove a weathered hornet's hive that sat at the very top of my house. Trust me, it was positioned in a difficult and dangerous place on my house. Now it looks like the hornet hive was never there. I am ever so grateful for that. If you hire RAP Painting and Pressure Washing you will not go wrong."

"This is the 2nd time I've used Freeborne and I would definitely have them back again. They built a 12' X 16' enclosed room on a 2nd story deck and it came out great. Lenny, Scott and crew knew what we wanted and exceeded our expectations without over complicating the project. There were no budget surprises either. The amount we discussed at the beginning was what we were charged. If I could I would use them to do projects inside of the house!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Putting lattice under a deck will create a polished look that allows for air ventilation. You can also store items underneath as the lattice provides privacy and protection from the weather. You can also put lattice under a porch to create a polished look in the front of your house.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

Choices include wood, composite, and hardwoods, each with unique benefits.

While experienced DIYers may take on the challenge, hiring a licensed professional is often the best route, especially for larger or elevated structures. A local deck contractor is typically the best pro for the job, as they have specialized experience and are knowledgeable about local building codes, ensuring your deck is built safely and designed to last. Other professionals who can build a deck include general contractors and carpenters, who may be more readily available in some regions.

The best paver for your pool deck depends on your budget, style, and how much maintenance you’re willing to invest. Granite is one of the best low-cost pavers for pool decks. It’s very slip-resistant and durable, too, making it a top pick. Travertine is a high-quality material that resists freeze-thaw cycles, looks stunning, and won’t get hot in the summer. The only downside to travertine is that it costs more than granite.
