"We have used spotlight twice now! Very impressed! LouAnn is the owner..... she is helpful, informative and communicative. We had a ceiling fan installed in our attic. The contractor who came out to do the work was great! I would highly recommend."

"They went the extra mile to install a combination fan and light fixture. The hole in the ceiling had to be enlarged slightly and they had to make two trips to Home Depot to get it done. Very professional work."

"The installation of the light fixture was challenging because the hallway ceiling is quite high and the work area is over an open stairwell. Omar and his team considered their options and used available resources to complete the work. The work was completed quickly and professionally. They cleaned up after themselves and made certain that I was happy. The cost of the service was well worth it and I would use him again.

"Called Vincent to provide estimate for stand-by generator.  He came by and gave a quote.  Price was very competitive, and he provided very useful information for the planned project.  He was one of the few who actually seemed knowledgeable about the work as I have solar panels that I wanted to protect from being fried by the generator. Most of the other contractors said "oh, i will call the manufacturer and ask them how to go about it.", not a very reassuring thing to hear.
In the end, did not proceed with the project as I had already ran over my renovation budget for the year.  Would definitely give him a call for this or anything electrical in the future.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.
