Customers say: Quality work

"We hired Ernest and Sons to construct our patio tiles. We purchased 2' X 2' Tiles and I have to say they did a gorgeous job. I was so pleased with the way they showed up when they said they would. The men that laid out on my job worked so hard. The labor was very strenuous but they never took a break. They were the most conscientious and polite workers I've ever dealt with. They worked neatly, cleaned up totally afterward, and just had a great deal of respect for our property. They really did a beautiful job and Ernest, the owner is a real gentleman also. Love this company!"

"Used ALB construction to repair my sidewalk. They contacted me immediately and came the next day to give me an estimate. When I hired them, they gave me a day that they would show up, and they did! The work was done well. The crew was really polite and professional. The sidewalk looks great. All in all, it was a joy to work with this company."

"Had the opportunity to experience Lilco's work on several projects. These guys always had a professional attitude and took the time for all preparations and quality control. They did not leave a mess or unwarranted damages like so many fly-by-night contractors tend to do. They even magnet swept driveways for screws/nails whenever they finished loading out for the night. The owner is always up front about any costs, with no hidden charges to get the jobs done."

"Conti Landscaping did an amazing job from start to finish. I was contacted almost immediately after putting in my request for the sod installation for my front yard and Chris came out to take a look the next day. His pricing was very fair compared to some other landscapers in the area, and he was able to do the work within a week of us meeting. He was very communicative as to how he wanted to complete the project and what days he was available to do so. Chris and his team showed up on time both days to complete the sod installation at my home and it looks great. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and did a great job. I would absolutely hire Conti Landscaping again for any future needs at my home!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.

The truth is, there really is no such thing as a 100% deer-proof plant. Deer will decimate even the prickliest flora if they’re hungry enough. However, there are plenty of beautiful plants that deer don’t necessarily enjoy. These include thistles, wisteria vines, sword ferns, and beautyberries.

Deer are herbivores, and they love vegetable gardens as much as Peter Rabbit. If you don’t want to fence in your entire property, consider creating an attractive raised-bed veggie garden with mesh fencing around it to keep out deer and other critters.

Environmental considerations include native plant selection, wildlife habitation, erosion prevention measures, and managing water runoff patterns to protect the lakefront ecosystem.

Plant a peach tree right at the end of your local dormancy period, likely at the very end of winter after the last frost when you can dig into the soft soil. Plan your backyard gardening season, including when planting peach trees, based on the frost schedule predicted in your local hardiness zone.
