"On time, on budget and excellent workmanship. Subcontractors we're top notch, especially their electrician who went the extra mile and then some to satisfy. Will definitely call them first for next project."

"Tim and his crew are amazing. They built me an awesome deck!! From the beginning of the project to end I was thoroughly impressed. His quote was timely and fair. I’ve heard of so many horror stories about contractors so i was so pleasantly surprised at how great this experience was. The work began quickly and the workmanship is incredible. These guys know what they’re doing. Tim is so professional. He is prompt, he communicates everything in detail and really pays attention to detail in the work. He’s also a really nice guy. His crew is polite and work so hard. They’d get here and never stop working. Maybe 5 minutes to eat a sandwich. I plan to hire Tim for future projects. No question about it! Highly recommend."

"I had such a great experience with P Jordan Construction! I needed some repairs done on my back porch, including replacing the stairs, fixing a rotting footboard under the door, and reconnecting the railings to the house. From start to finish, the process was smooth and stress-free. Parker communicated clearly, showed up on time, and had everything finished in just a couple of hours. On top of that, the pricing was more than reasonable. I really appreciate his professionalism and quality of work. I would highly recommend!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Steve Andrews Construction is everything you would want, hope for, and desire in a professional contractor. We hired Steve for a full kitchen/dining renovation (down to the studs and sub floor), tiling of a 3 season porch, and the replacement of 2 entryway doors. From our initial consultation Steve was on time, concise, reasonable, organized, thorough, and attentive to details. Qualities that persisted through out the 8 weeks of the project(s). Steve's quality of work, attention to detail and unwavering standards are of the highest regard, he is a true craftsman in his field. He was always on time, cleaned up after himself daily and kept all stock, supplies, tools, and equipment for the job neat and organized. I can say that my experience was remarkable, enjoyable, and 100% positive. If you are to go under contract with Steve Andrews Construction, you will have a contractor for life, as I do."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.
