"Needed 7 trees taken down, 1 large beech, a pair of large maples, several dead tree trunks. Access was tight and limited space to drop trees into. McClure's brought a crane, squeezed it into the driveway, and parked the chipper truck next to it. They flew the cutter into the trees from the top down using the crane The cutter dismounted and tied the tree branches and trunk parts to the crane before cutting them off. The beech was behind the garage so the crane lifted the cut pieces over the top of the garage and house and set them next to the chipper. Loaded up the logs, chipped up the branches, cleaned the job site before they left. Job very well done and I will definitely hire these guys again the next time we need trees taken down."

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

Tree stumps are not only unsightly, but they can also do serious damage to your yard and home’s foundation. Tree stumps also attract termites, mice, ants, and other pests that could make their way into your home. While it’s an investment in your yard, removing a stump is worth the cost.

Peach trees grow to be about 25 feet, so keep this in mind for pruning as well. If you plan to DIY, you’ll need to be comfortable working on a ladder. Without pruning, peach tree branches can sprawl nearly as wide as the tree grows tall, so make sure to plan pruning sessions at least once per year in the spring for controlled growth. And if you’re working on a ladder, be sure to follow all safety precautions, especially if you’ll be dealing with falling branches.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.
